  1. Hi all I have a mak 9010, which is a bit underused. After talking to a gaffer at work, i may have the chance to do some milling. What i would like to know is what would be the most realistic set up for my saw. Apart from the saw i would have to start from scratch and buy everything over time. As well as the largest bar what would the smallest bar be. I'm sure someone recently put up a picture of one with an 18" bar. cheers for any advice
  2. I've just seen the last 2 episodes, and to me its brilliant, just shows what proper documentaries can be made. Another i watched recently was the steve backshall expedition. That was really good as well.
  3. i can vouch for the dolmar ps 35. brilliant little saw. So smooth to start.
  4. Thats a bugger dean. So heartbreaking when you put so much time and effort into something, just for some scroat to take it.
  5. Logged on, you beat me to it. Have seen many of those compressors on building sites. Handy little things. Ideal for what the op is wanting.
  6. +2, i have the mak version. It came with a solid nose that was absolutely rubbish, put a roller tip on and it transformed the saw brilliantly. Get onto shavey for the dolly.
  7. Well i like my makita dolmar, and you carnt go wrong with them in my mind. I have a little dolly35, ok its small but punches above it weight. Speak to shavey, he will sort you out.
  8. I am 5'4", so its a bugger trying to get tops that fit. Like others have said, shirts are a nightmare. But the main one for me is coats and jackets. Because i workout and have good shoulders i need a bigger jacket, but then that means they are longer and so end up nice fitting at the top but looking like a trench coat on me when its meant to just go to waist height.
  9. As per my comments on the other van thread, what about a luton style van.
  10. thats only 10 mins from where i live. sometimes take the kids down to the falls for a walk round, then visit the park.
  11. Yes you are quite right, it is the tipping pin assembly. I have a similar trailer that has the tipping facility.
  12. I would always go for a van over a pickup for security and if you need an open back then get a trailer. On about vans, why dont you see many transit luton type vans being used. ( stevie blair had one) If i was in the market for a van i would certainly look at a luton, and then turn it partly into a mobile workshop. Any thoughts ?
  13. Where abouts in doncaster, i work in balby.
  14. Good Post This morning, worked on a roof ( that is taking far too long ) Onto allotment for an hour or so pottering about Dinner then snooze Now on here and trying to do college work.
  15. What construction experience do you have, and what type of wooden flooring are you wanting to know about. Is this anything to do with your other threads ?
  16. What did you allow for when tendering for the job.
  17. Sometimes i dont run my saws every month, but keep the same fuel in them and away we go when i next need them. Now i quite like the idea of aspen, as i could also use it in the strimmers etc which get a lot of use in the summer, but it is the cost that puts me off. Now in the old days i used to use redex additive in my old cars, could this also be used in my saws / strimmers ? Also do the saws need setting up different to run on aspen and what about if i decided to try aspen then go back to petrol or just keep flitting between them both. cheers.
  18. Thanks dalton. I'm going to work my price out from that price guide for a sealed shell and take it from there. It is only a project ( although an important one), so i think i will be close enough working it out from there and then getting prices for the interior fit outs. cheers
  19. I have been on the british log cabin website and come across this price list. Do you think i could take a comparative price from this http://www.britishlogcabins.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Price-Guide-29.09.15.pdf. My idea is to take the price for the llangedwyn house and recalculate for my own design. Do you think this would be sufficient. Thanks H.
  20. Hi chaps. So are you saying approx £1500 per sq meter of actual material and build, and this is for all joinery / woodwork, If so how much would that work out at per linear mtr ? Another way of doing it would be to cost each log. for example, if the build needed 300 logs at 4800, and each log cost £100 then the total cost for the logs would be £3000. So would that be an easier way of pricing it ? I think it might be. Although i do like the idea of an all in price for all timberwork. Also does anyone know a true cost of roundwood timber approx 300mm dia and at 4800 long. I believe it is cedar that is most commonly used. cheers again H.
  21. Hi All, I now have a major headache I have basically designed my house on this Log Style House Plan - 5 Beds 3.5 Baths 2588 Sq/Ft Plan #17-478 My headache now is how the hell do i start and price this up for the build costs. I need to price up the price of the house only ( no foundations or any services) and the cost of erecting it. I know its cheeky for me to ask , but for those of you that work in timber framing, i could do with knowing as mush detail as possible about pricing this up. Thanks in advance H.
