  1. Funny you should mention leyladii, whilst cutting the gob out of a 60 footer yesterday morning the 'water' from it was pouring out of my saw and onto the leg of my stihl trousers,it soaked through quickly, and last night i noticed my leg was all red.Going back to normal now,and have asked mrs oldwoodcutter to wash my hiflexes over easter.
  2. Had a £30 tip at the end of a nice big connie job tonight.Gave one tenner extra to my son in law and one to my chipper feeder and gave mrs oldwoodcutter the other when i got home.
  3. I may be getting old in the tooth, but ime going to catch the lowlife that keeps loading my cord up one day,and when i get hold of him, i think i can just about remember how to dish out a few internal injuries. Hope you get yours back.
  4. Yep,thats what ive been up to all day,my axe was my fathers and must be 100 years old but still splits it up. And for the twisty lumps i open them up with my 460 with the 18" bar on.
  5. Sorry to hear that mate, its no consolation i know but my son in law had his nearly new pride and joy ms250 grabbed out the back of his little van on wednesday at Terrington, and he is real careful about security.
  6. No she's not mate, because she works in same building as my daughter and she told her that the £150 boys are going to do the job.
  7. We all know that its very easy to go in with a low price when thats the only job you've had the opportunity to price all week. Much harder to give that potential client a price that you are going to make a good profit on after all your blood sweat and tears. I priced a massive eucy sunday morning overhanging 2 other pristine gardens and a summerhouse with every last inch of it lowered and dragged through a 3ft gate at £600.She nearly fell over. When i asked her whats the cheapest quote she's had so far she said £150.
  8. You wont go far wrong with a 460, an 18" bar throws the chips about 4 yards behind you, and a 25" for those big lumps.
  9. That looks like a good job to cut your teeth on,and a nice tidy up. When you've packed up your tools and gone thats what is so important, not the blood sweat and tears, but the 'finish' the customer is left with.
  10. Couple of years ago,my mate and i were driving to a clay shoot at swanton morley. We both happened to look into a field that had a maize pheasant cover strip down one side and saw a black cat similar in size to a large greyhound but definately a cat with a long tail about 50 yards away. Of course everyone asked if we'd been on the drink when we tried to explain our sighting at the shoot.
  11. Work of the highest order again Tommy, thanks for posting.
  12. I dont like to start much before 9 on a sunday, especially if theres houses all around.
  13. Well i was brought up a christian way back when,i go to church occasionly like harvest festival and chrismas. When things could have gone very bad i'll admit ive sent a prayer up under my breath and everything turned out for the good. More than that i dont know.
  14. Hello Ashtray, would you be interested in helping me out occasionally with a days chipping or sawing? Ime often working in and around Swaffham. You can text or phone me on 07867 764307.All the best,Tim

  15. Looked like a nice little number peter.
  16. My back is starting to ache just looking at that. Keep up the good work Slack.
  17. delivered the last of my dry wood today, mrs oldwoodcutter came out in the truck with me for a change to lend a hand, and now brought the sign in off my frontage.
  18. Thanks for posting Munch,i enjoyed those.
  19. I enjoyed watching that, thanks for sharing Jack.
  20. There are several tribes at it round swaffham at the moment, and have been since before xmas. I faced up to 1 lot who came shuffling into my work area last autumn on the roadside. Although these rats of the 2 legged variety usually only come out at night.
  21. Run mine with a 18" bar and slip a 25" on for the bigger work. Hot knife and butter.
  22. Hi Dom,no mate,i beleave the estate have there own tree men, they've also got a firewood selling dept. Ime working closer to the high tower and windmills side.
  23. Had planned to sort out a eucy at Pickenham, still going and will weigh the job up when i get there.Ime not going to get a wet shirt over it though,if too bad will come back before i start.
  24. Years ago a big estate next to me let a day to a party of germans,i was there as a loader and at the begining of 1 drive the head keeper said sternly that there was a special white pheasant in the wood and on no account was it to be shot. Yes,the first bird out was that one,and they bottled it. Happy days.
