  1. You’re as young as the woman you feel. And the new Mrs Oldwoodcutter is into her 70s
  2. Oh if only I was 57 years younger
  3. I’ve had them move my signs to cycle through into drop zone , triple lines of hazard tape have been pulled up and ducked under to walk directly under ton lumps of timber coming down, but I’ve found that the worst offenders are postmen, who will battle through every safety barrier erected and every banksman ignored,to get to that letterbox.
  4. Trees don’t have to be big to be remarkable
  5. I’m happy to say I share openspacemans record, nothing er invasive yet , and we’re about the same ( old) age
  6. Cockley Cley forest big birch failed
  7. Whenever I see work of that standard, it’s been done on a job I quoted and lost out to the competition. Often with a fold up grinder in the back of a white escort van that was one of the last off the line at Dagenham, with an unusually large clasp lock on the back doors. If you’re stump grinding grind it out.
  8. After I had my best chainsaw nicked, my Irish mate offered to loan me his
  9. 2009 , here’s to the next 15 years . . . if I don’t turn my toes up leastways.
  10. Friday has soon come round again, at least I’m here to see it 👍
  11. I was always asked for monkey puzzle trunks , but when it came to get your wallet out time they all wanted it donated free . So now on the firewood heap it goes.
  12. Yes x army gortex, and the hoods big enough to go over your helmet of course.
  13. I put my old webley falcon behind the ear of a rat in my cage trap last week, and it must have had a pint of blood come out of it, you had to see it to believe it.
  14. Bt are best avoided , they won’t speak to tree firms only the account customer. They then charge that customer to drop the line and charge again to reinstate it. And often when everything’s been arranged for the time and day to drop it they don’t even turn up leaving you and your staff well and truly stuffed. If it’s not fibre, and not on a shared power pole it is possible to drop it and then pop it back again if your fingers are nimble enough, which mine haven’t been for about 40 years.
  15. Cutting overgrown Laurel in the pouring rain all day, you soon work out what tools are most productive
  16. The best thing you can do is simply pay an experienced tree man or time served forestry worker to come and get it down for you, unless you prefer to commit suicide
  17. Most bonafide tree firms have a gypsy stick or two on board, often on top of a tarmac rake and a set of heavy bolt croppers with unusually long handles
