  1. All i can say is fair play to them.
  2. Well done, hope thats the first of many good jobs.
  3. Yes, you dont have to buy brand new - ive had my old webley falcon since the mid sixties and it can still make an old rat jump a foot in the air and drop down stone dead.
  4. Hi steve, hope you dont mind me asking, but 1 of my 200ts is playing up again-after 20 minutes it wont tick over when brakes on,take brake off and its ok for another 1\2 hour then it wont turn the chain at all, just as though the brakes on but its not. I take cover off and clutch pack is real hot as is chain and bar. All the best - Tim.

  5. Ide have to think twice before following them up there, looks a little on the high side.
  6. The trick used to be that when you were going flat out, reach forward and pull off the air pre cleaner, and then it would go even faster. As you have the oportunity to get it,then go for it,once sorted it will run forever.
  7. One of my sons in law is in royal navy and i agree, his work trousers and jackets, and his foul weather trousers and jackets are all absolutely first class quality. Ive seen and used army and air force clothing, but his navy stuff is in a different league. The last time he came on leave he came out with me working for a day,so i took the opportunity to give him my sizes so heres hoping.
  8. That reminds me of a workmate who spent his last penny on a muddy fox when they first came out,for his sons birthday. This was pikied when about 2 days old from outside his sons snooker club, and although he scoured all the backyards in town never found it of course. Thats all we heard all day every day for weeks, that blinkin disapearing muddy fox.
  9. Am going to be a grandad again,my youngest daughter is having her 12 week scan at end of june - does that count?
  10. I had a close look at a clark logbuster 6 that a pal of mine has splashed out on. Its a vertical electric 3000w and 5 or 6 ton from memory,it was quick as you can set the stroke of the ram and it cracked through everything he put on its table in no time. He uses it on wet days in his big shed.
  11. One of my young shavers has the nasty little habit of gobbing out every few yards.Ive told him often enough not to do it,especialy in customers back gardens. The other morning he's in the back of my truck, and as usual propels one out the window, not realizing that he hadn't opened it. I dont usually swear, but did offer him some advice as to his future work prospects if coming out with me again.
  12. Getting a puncture obviously stops the trolley, often just when your busy with it,so i filled the tubes with that anti-puncture stuff, the lynch pins somehow kept coming off the axles so i now zip clip the pins on. One of the best things ive ever bought though.
  13. I take 3 litre bottles in this heat, put 2 of them in the freezer the night before, and keep them all in a coolbag during the day with those iceblock things. Court one of my young draggers swigging out of my bottle this afternoon, told him to bring his own next time, but apparantly he dont get up too early to do that.
  14. Had a wake up call this afternoon when my 200t came back at me. Yes,i was using it one handed, and on he ground too, which of course are both no,nos, but ime as guilty as the next man for occasionally doing it. I was very lucky on 2 counts - firstly as it came up the brake somehow brushed hard against my abdomen and the chain stopped just as it hit my chest, and secondly the bar finished up flat against my shirt. So no harm done, just a bruised chest and torn shirt. Ater ide gathered my thoughts, had a drink and a sit down i tried to replicate how my tummy had activated the brake - not easy, someone was certainly looking down on me. I hope by posting that someone somewhere in the future will not be sliced open as i nearly was,and that it can happen so very very quickly.
  15. hi steve, had a real wake up call late this a'noon when my 200 came back at me.yes i was using it 1 handed, and on the ground too,so theres 2 big no nos for a start. And 2 big bits of pure luck-when it came back up the brake somehow brushed hard against my abdomen and the chain just stopped as it hit my chest. And amazingly the bar finished up flat against my shirt,so just ripped shirt and bruised chest. By posting i may just save some1 else from being sliced open but on other hand its usual for a few to wade in with a series of low punches, some probably 50 years my junior, then i may post something back 2 them that i later regret. What would you advise? All the best,Tim.

  16. Blimey that fella is quick,he's going to take his arm off in a minute.
  17. hi tom,i did lots of trial and error before i decided on the simplest solution. A one piece box seemed awkward and cumbersome to put in if doing it by myself, unless you're leaving it in as a semi permanent greedy board. I cut 4 pieces of sterling board accuratly from bed to roof and find that not only are they simple and easy to pop in,but weather its half full of chip,or up to the top, they dont move, hope this helps.
  18. Used to put down cymag years ago, same rules applied even then - keep upwind of it,dont do it when theres a lot of moisture in the air, think what you're doing all the time, and take somebody out there with you.
  19. The big estates/landowners round here have bought new harvesters with grant money,so the cutters have come in from the woods and forestry blocks and now drive firewood delivery trucks for those estates. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
  20. what may help are damp traps, ive got 5 around my place and they realy attract the moisture, put the white crystals in the top and tip the water out the bottom. Hope this helps.
  21. Be careful, with all this talk of solititers action it could be a case of a sprat to catch a mackerel.
  22. Little quiete at moment so went up to my cord heap and did some logging for next season, then got rained off. Out later to price up ''some tall conifers'' . See what they are then, either 9 feet tall or 90 feet.
  23. Well boys ive had enough of it,ime off to Australia Ive got all the koalafications.
  24. Hadn't realised that Marlon Brando was on here - The Codfather
