  1. Got a nice tip from a customer the other day. Said to put a good layer of bullock muck in the bottom of the trench when planting out celery.
  2. Clarks cut n climb is the best jacket ive ever owned.
  3. Thanks Felix,will pm you.
  4. I doubt they're complaining much over norwich way - there's an advert running in the eastern daily press offering logs in 2 cubic metre loads for £75 a load includes delivery.
  5. Yep,had it since the sixties,as my eyes aren't what they were over open sights,i put an 'original' scope on it few years ago. For extra power spray wd40 down the barrel before hand and it will drill a slug straight through a owd rat.
  6. Slotted a big one with my webly falcon beside my cordstack the other morning,i would think it must have pumped nearly a pint of blood out onto the concrete, never seen anything like it.
  7. From what i can see, i'd say it certainly could be willow.
  8. As Egg says,on cold windy days a hat is always a good idea,i pull mine down right below my ears on such days, and wear safety specs to keep the cold wind out of my eyes helps.
  9. Had to smile to myself this afternoon, priced 3 apples up to be pruned, only small stuff in a pokey back garden, that had been trimmed like a current bush by someone last year. After giving my price the customer said thats a fair bit more than i paid last year, but asked me to do it anyway, then went on to ask what tools i have, and before i could answer, said that there's a socket and extension cable in the shed for a hedge trimmer, the last bloke used mine,as he didnt have one in his van.
  10. The next time i look to price a 30ft high connie hedge that wants 5ft off the top,i will take my ladder and have a decko up on top of it. That way i wont be suprised to see its 20ft wide on top and full of honeysuckle.
  11. Before my stoats went, i picked up a dead one near my cord stacks,no obvious cause of death, but ive got a pair of marsh harriers floating around so one of those may have grabbed it,then decided not to eat it for some reason.
  12. Had a family of stoats in mine during the summer, they moved out and the rats have now moved in.
  13. burning ash mixed with leylandii tonight. Just went into room and threw some more on,stood up and got my head entangled in mrs oldwoodcutters underpants and bras she's got hanging on an airer from the beam above it.
  14. Mate of mine got woken up in middle of the night by a banging on his front door, reluctantly,as the noise increases he goes down and opens it to see a young scruf of the hooded variety wanting a push. After telling him to clear off he goes back to bed and tells his old woman what was up. She said that was very mean of you, when we broke down and knocked someone up they helped us if you remember. So down he goes ,opens door and calls out into the night,to hear in the darkness "give me a push mate" Shining his torch onto the lawn he sees the young scrote sitting on the swing.
  15. Ive certainly seen a lot worse.
  16. What part of norfolk are you based jonny?
  17. Cut n climb jacket zipped up to the hilt. Royal navy heavy weather overtrousers.
  18. Mrs oldwoodcutter could snore for england,a gentle elbow into her spare rib usualy does the trick though. Mind you,if i overdo it and wake her up ime met with some pretty fruity language.
  19. Lashed down all day here, cutting down some overgrown shrubs this morning, knocked an apple tree down for another cust this after. Without my cut n climb jacket and royal navy heavy weather trousers i would have been like a drowned rat,as it was - dry as a bone.
  20. well i will be sleeping with 1 ear open in case the little tinker comes back again.
  21. Thanks for the heads up mate,i had an irishman stroll into my yard this morning 'looking for any scrap at all' and having a good look round ,til i told him he best be on his way.
  22. Might have had a go up that tower 45 years ago when i was full of beans, but not nowadays.
  23. Penny pinchers is right - taking 4 loads out tomorrow and 2 of them only want 1/2 a cube each. Out of the blue i found myself behind 1 of the log trucks from a big estate the other day,he had a couple of cube on and was at least 30 miles from base. They advertise 2 cube for £147.
  24. Seen some rapid tractors in my time, but that takes the biscuit. Thanks for posting matthew - wonder what he's got under the bonnet?
  25. When your good lady's annual smear test reveals nothing more serious than woodchips.
