    wellies

Treated myself last week to a pair of argyll wellies for £39 - does that count?
  2. That's the way to do it.
  3. Welcome to the club Stubby,i sometimes nod off in my chair before tea after a particularly frought day,or doze off at 7 and get roused up at 10 when mrs oldwoodcutters going up. As long as i continue to wake up,thats the main thing.
  4. You won't regret it,i run mine on a 25'' and 18'' bar,and although it can be pretty lively on the shorter bar, to me its just about the perfect all round big saw.
  5. I dare say we all like to think we're pretty handy with a 200t,but my big scare this year was when mine kickbacked whilst a fired it up for a moment and made a few quick cuts on the ground. No matter how strong you are, when that comes back up you aren't going to stop it.
  6. I dare say that most hedge men have at one time or another had the offer of a spirit level proffered by the householder.
  7. After laying my hedgetrimming gear out on someones lawn ready to make a start the other day,he enquired if i needed any electricity.
  8. Crumbs, that looks nasty.Hope it heals up ok.
  9. You could bring it to my yard james, but ive got more than i know what to do with myself. If you're still stuck with nowhere at the last minute give me a ring.
  10. Thats about right mate. When the big estates have cleared out all their profitable timber no doubt they'll move on to the next big grant aided moneyspinner.
  11. There's at least 3 big farming estates within an 8 mile radius of me who over the past 2 or 3 years have gone into logs in a big way, they have their own harvesters, big processors, and men and log delivery trucks flying round the highways and byways. If they drop their prices then i will stop.ime not breaking my back just to give it away,i will come in the house and put my feet up.
  12. Supposed to go out in the morning to drop a large ash. Phoned customer at 7 tonight and postboned it.
  13. Yes,keeping your own council when confronted with miserable comments is often a good policy, but i did waver yesterday morning. A retired farmer had asked me to drop and log up a nasty windblown hanger in his little wood, and an big unclimbable rotten birch leaning the wrong way beside a fence, both of witch his local man ''didnt like the look of'' After an hour and half with the sweat rolling off me both were on the deck where i wanted them and logged up. He came strutting over from his house and said ''well they were easy enough then, dont know what my man was afraid of'' So for once i explained the whys and wherefors of my work, then stuffed his folding money into my pocket.
  14. goodness me,that was close - glad you're ok. For the first time ever,i fell off my scaffold whilst connie hedge cutting today, luckily fell still standing up and still holding my trimmer, just shook me up a bit. You never know mate.

  19. death caps?
  20. death caps?
  21. One of my daughters just gave me a scan photo of my new grandson to be - does that count?
  22. If ime not mistaken, that bloke on the extreme right was on a first aid refresher i attended at santon downham.
  23. I see the yanks have got to mars with that buggy. Its not common knowledge but for the past 25 years they've been planning to get one on the sun,but have always had the problem of it being too hot. After a brainstorming session last week they have now finally solved the problem. They're going at night.
  24. still waterproof, zips and studs ok,cant fault it.
  25. After an early start, finished at 1 today. Picked up my wheelbarrow and as usual spun it upside down to pop it on the truck, only noticed the dog muck on one of the barrow feet when i'd got a hand full of it. Another day in paradise.
