  1. For those of a comical disposition,David is trying his hardest to get a foot into the world of hedges and trees.I am endevouring to help him by offering some days work, and what to some may seem a silly question,is one of his first jobs in this field - Tim.
  2. The graphics on your Hilux look really good Ed,very smart.
  3. We have a fair amount of rubbish pumped into our front room, but ime sorry, having tangled with them a few times,i just cant bear to watch anything to do with the caravan club.
  4. Ime quiet enjoying this thread.
  5. Another easy mod is to convert the stationary plate to a blade. Latest thinking is that a blade at each end is much more efficient.
  6. Nice one Peter. Ve haf vays of getting you out.
  7. All i can say Dave, is ive had my fair share of Coutts cheques handed to me,and been asked back to do more work,so i must be doing something right.
  8. A handy rule of thumb of pricing day rates i use is, how long is their driveway, have they one or more new range rovers on the crunchy gravel, how many peacocks on the lawn, and the newness of the gardning department's compact tractor.
  9. That's the thing, when you do stumble or tumble, and i dare say most of us in the tree game have gone down at one time or another,no matter how handy with a saw you think you are,for those 2 or 3 seconds you're not 100% in control of quite how or where you are going to end up. Then the habit of trampling about with an unbraked running saw can turn to tragedy.
  10. Funnily enough i took a tumble this afternoon whilst taking a few steps with my 460. Yes,i chucked it as i went down, but i was blinking glad my brake was on none the less.
  11. hardly ever used to use it,but i certainly do now.If ime moving and the saws running, then that brake is on.
  12. I suppose you could have always flagged down the tree truck carrying scrap, and asked the driver if he was a traveller.
  13. 200t kicked back and the bar ended up flat against my chest, 6" from my throat. Sat quietly afterwards for a couple of minutes just to gather my thoughts.
  14. What a knob, which will soon be lying on the ground.
  15. May be mistaken but the way i heard it, he was beside the tree collecting (or foraging as they called it)firewood which was laying on the ground, when the tree naturally fell on him. More than that i cant say,but nobody out getting firewood wants to risk dieing, young or old.
  16. If ive had a hard morning logging up in the freezing cold,i sometimes have a snooze in the afternoon. Does that count?
  17. Swaffham Gold brewed by Iceni.
  18. Well you only get one pair of eyes to last you all your life. If my lads havn't got their own glasses i give them a pair, and after that if they're not wearing them,i want to know why.
  19. A fairly local firewood supplier, and a member of a.t. has run out and kindly passed on my number to 1 of his customers who wanted logs in a hurry. I explained to the customer on monday that i would have to go out on tuesday and cut some cord up and split it for her. Delivered it first thing this morning and she was over the moon,as it was a freezing cold day yesterday, realy thankful and appreciative. Made up for being frozen stiff in a way.
  20. Thats big alright.Just out of interest do you think those two bucking are using 460s or 660s?
  21. Hang on a minute, ive seen 'trained' young fellas slipping and sliding around, that make him look fairly accomplished.
  22. Yes,the visor doesnt stop the dust Gand, the last time i had my eyes tested, when they have a good look right in your eyes,he saw lots of little scars, asked what i did for a living, and told me to always wear close fitting safety specs if i want to keep my eyesight.
  23. The itex ones from clarks are adjustable in length and tilt, use mine all the time.
  24. Was at a rather stuffy bbq last summer, and another tree man that i vaguely knew, who seemed equally bored, came over and after introducing ourselves he remarked on the large sycamore in our hosts garden. I told him ide already dismantled it down to the stump in my minds eye,and he admitted he'd done the same earlier.
