  1. Had mine completely resrayed, including wheels and towbar bracketry,600 notes. Hope this helps Chris.
  2. Looks like its got a bit of a pedigree chum.
  3. Had a stihl budget one on the floor behind the passenger seat, had to pull up quickly and a box of 250 cartridges slid off back seat and crumpled the helmet like it was made of paper.
  4. What Eddie said.
  5. If you had a large head,i expect you'd say 'have you seen my big topper?'
  6. Sometimes an otherwise healthy tree has a few thinnish dead limbs sticking out, these are my favorite, they're as hard as nails, have been up in the treetop for donkeys years, and burn with a heat that will warp the firebars.
  7. Would be handy to keep in the truck for backup. I say 'just pass me that topping saw' not 'just pass me that ms200t'
  8. Got the little stihl one,ime no expert but i think its ok,wettest ive had were 50%fresh cut, driest at 11%for kindling that been in shed for years.
  9. Restricting is right lumpit,as you get older you generally need more help to remain productive unless you want your jobs to take longer and more tiring to do. I very seldom work alone nowadays.
  10. My lads wouldn't pass any cro checks, god knows, but they work hard, enjoy the rough and tumble of tree work, they cant wait to get started in the mornings,at lunchtime they're up again before ive hardly got to my second sandwich, and have a clean up standard that would put the nhs to shame. Ime very lucky.
  11. Trouble is Jon,they are likely to steal your dog too.
  12. I should think it weighs quite a bit.
  13. Well my lads are english, they work hard because they want to be on the job doing tree work,or cutting hedges, thats what they like doing, and speaking of lunch breaks, ime the last to get up,being old and creaky, and ive only sat down for 20 minutes but they've already fired the chipper up again, and got the saws running.
  14. I was talking to one of the biggest,if not the biggest harvesting contractor in east anglia a few weeks ago and he is selling ash, as harvested, at ride side for £70 a ton,and his opinion was that it will be more next year. So any get rich quick log seller who buys his roundwood in, and is running around chucking cubes off for £80 a throw now, will soon have to double his prices,or go out of business.
  15. I dare say that he took 22 weeks to chop 22 tons at that rate.
  16. thats right,as i said on page 2,lift tyre off road, pop shovel or spade under all 4,skid out of way,job squared.
  17. If you can get a shovel or spade under each tyre you can soon skid them out of the road.
  18. Hmm,thats a possibility mate.
  19. yes, the youngsters in my crew have a silent code, they signal to each other that theres a female aproaching the work area by giving a series of pelvic thrusts.
  20. Crumbs, talk about asking for trouble
  21. its just that she prefers it in a glass, considers drinking straight from the can or bottle a little unlady like.
  22. Poured a diet coke out for mrs oldwoodcutter with her sunday lunch today, does that count?
  23. Think i would steer well clear of him.
  24. I enjoy a joke as much as the next man,a little bit of leg pulling perhaps, and the lads and i are usually good humoured, but when we're on the job with ropes going up and down, big timber moving at a rate of knots, with 2 or 3 saws running and sweat rolling off you,and trip hazards everywhere thats not the place for it. When its quiet and we're having a breather and a sandwich, well then we can relax a bit and have a laugh, but never anything nasty or hurtfull.
  25. If you take 'dead' wood or any other kind of wood out of forestry commission woodland, and a ranger challenges you, they will be down on you like a ton of wet concrete.
