  1. No commandments about the use,or non use,of ladders in treework please.
  2. I know theres nothing wrong with it,thats why i spent my hard earned on it Harvey.
  3. Husky forest helmet,a 25"Sugi hara for the 460,and a little husky 135 for the chipper boy.
  4. The last time i worked for them,i would have earned more money if ide have sat in the house in front of my fire all week drinking tea.
  5. 4 golfers wanted to have a round on xmas morning, but knew it would be difficult persuading their wives on that day of all days. They decided to go for it,but if anyone of the 4 couldnt get away, then he would have to pay for the other threes round. On xmas morning all 4 showed up at the clubhouse, the first said 'i had to buy her a £10,000 diamond ring to get here today' The second said 'i had to buy her a top of the range bmw sport to get here' The 3rd said 'well i had to pay for a fortnights skiing in switzerland followed by a fortnight in the sun in florida' And the 4th man,who had been silent up to now said' I said to my wife this morning i cant decide whether to make love or go golfing and she said' you'd better take your jumper, its cold out there today'
  6. Wouldn't want to be within 20 yards of that lash up.
  7. Last week while wearing ordinary treework gloves,i pulled a lump of shrub out of the way at the base of a tree i was felling and some kind of blinking thorn went straight under my finger nail,my fingertip is numb now but all i can do is hope it grows out with the nail.
  8. Ordered a 25" one for my 460 yesterday for the benefit of weight and rail wear,so will soon see how it shapes up Jake.
  9. Seems to me matty that there are not many tree men left in your village and those local to it,that hav'nt had their gear stolen,do you think it is someone very local?
  10. You're not wrong there mike, ive been sawing n chipping in swaffham on quite a few jobs this past fortnight and they havnt been near or by me,and they can hear me from their reservation.
  11. All ive noticed, time after time, is the blinking tractor and plough that goes for miles and miles and wont pull over even to the point of driving past laybys is almost always of the younger generation. Look at the driver who has pulled over for you,and he will be of the old school, looking over his shoulder at you as you pass him by.
  12. One of the top climbers hereabouts, and a fellow arbtalker, helped me out couple of weeks ago,he asked for my pole saw to be sent up on one occasion,as he couldnt get a safe anchor in 1 of the pines to remove a branch that the customer insisted be removed. Nothing wrong with that in my humble.
  13. Had mine completely resrayed, including wheels and towbar bracketry,600 notes. Hope this helps Chris.
  14. Looks like its got a bit of a pedigree chum.
  15. Had a stihl budget one on the floor behind the passenger seat, had to pull up quickly and a box of 250 cartridges slid off back seat and crumpled the helmet like it was made of paper.
  16. If you had a large head,i expect you'd say 'have you seen my big topper?'
  17. Sometimes an otherwise healthy tree has a few thinnish dead limbs sticking out, these are my favorite, they're as hard as nails, have been up in the treetop for donkeys years, and burn with a heat that will warp the firebars.
  18. Would be handy to keep in the truck for backup. I say 'just pass me that topping saw' not 'just pass me that ms200t'
  19. Got the little stihl one,ime no expert but i think its ok,wettest ive had were 50%fresh cut, driest at 11%for kindling that been in shed for years.
  20. Restricting is right lumpit,as you get older you generally need more help to remain productive unless you want your jobs to take longer and more tiring to do. I very seldom work alone nowadays.
  21. My lads wouldn't pass any cro checks, god knows, but they work hard, enjoy the rough and tumble of tree work, they cant wait to get started in the mornings,at lunchtime they're up again before ive hardly got to my second sandwich, and have a clean up standard that would put the nhs to shame. Ime very lucky.
  22. Trouble is Jon,they are likely to steal your dog too.
  23. I should think it weighs quite a bit.
  24. Well my lads are english, they work hard because they want to be on the job doing tree work,or cutting hedges, thats what they like doing, and speaking of lunch breaks, ime the last to get up,being old and creaky, and ive only sat down for 20 minutes but they've already fired the chipper up again, and got the saws running.
