  1. Yes,I did that but couldn't get the blinkin thing back wound up again.Spent 1 evening with it on my lap but wouldn't go back from together for all the tea in china.
  2. Ive found that stihl green is healthier when using topping saw or hedgetrimmer on still air days. So now use it all the time in everything with a 2 stroke engine.
  3. Dont like the look of that lot. If it were in my yard ide be tempted to chuck some diesel over it and fire it up out of the way.
  4. Hi Stumpy, how you doin mate, that nature reserve not been the same since they let you loose on it with a chainsaw lol.

    Hi-viz

Mate of mines got one with 'first aider' on the back, does that count?
  6. I sometimes find that my 660 with the 30" bar bogs down a bit in very hard wood,it is then best to put on the 25" bar. Also have an 18" bar but its then a bit of a handfull. When its really cutting it whistles like its a turbo.
  7. A blinking long time ago,we had a fella on the team who was what you would nowadays call a pedo. Because of his reputation any school leaver joining us at work would be very wary of him,to the point of not wanting to work alone with him. One day my old sparring partner waited til after dinner, then went to creepys bag when he wasnt about, and dropped the biggest dead rat by the tail into his lunchbox, put the lid on and replaced it in his bag. Of course there was hell to pay next morning, but no-one split, and he cleared off shortly after, but i never forgottten that. All dead now though.
  8. You're right there Slack,he has only got one arm,he accidently lopped the other one off with his chainsaw some time ago.
  9. I use my 460 on the big stuff, and the 660 on the very big stuff, specially oak.
  10. For those of a comical disposition,David is trying his hardest to get a foot into the world of hedges and trees.I am endevouring to help him by offering some days work, and what to some may seem a silly question,is one of his first jobs in this field - Tim.
  11. The graphics on your Hilux look really good Ed,very smart.
  12. We have a fair amount of rubbish pumped into our front room, but ime sorry, having tangled with them a few times,i just cant bear to watch anything to do with the caravan club.
  13. Ime quiet enjoying this thread.
  14. Another easy mod is to convert the stationary plate to a blade. Latest thinking is that a blade at each end is much more efficient.
  15. Nice one Peter. Ve haf vays of getting you out.
  16. All i can say Dave, is ive had my fair share of Coutts cheques handed to me,and been asked back to do more work,so i must be doing something right.
  17. A handy rule of thumb of pricing day rates i use is, how long is their driveway, have they one or more new range rovers on the crunchy gravel, how many peacocks on the lawn, and the newness of the gardning department's compact tractor.
  18. That's the thing, when you do stumble or tumble, and i dare say most of us in the tree game have gone down at one time or another,no matter how handy with a saw you think you are,for those 2 or 3 seconds you're not 100% in control of quite how or where you are going to end up. Then the habit of trampling about with an unbraked running saw can turn to tragedy.
  19. Funnily enough i took a tumble this afternoon whilst taking a few steps with my 460. Yes,i chucked it as i went down, but i was blinking glad my brake was on none the less.
  20. hardly ever used to use it,but i certainly do now.If ime moving and the saws running, then that brake is on.
  21. I suppose you could have always flagged down the tree truck carrying scrap, and asked the driver if he was a traveller.
  22. 200t kicked back and the bar ended up flat against my chest, 6" from my throat. Sat quietly afterwards for a couple of minutes just to gather my thoughts.
  23. What a knob, which will soon be lying on the ground.
  24. May be mistaken but the way i heard it, he was beside the tree collecting (or foraging as they called it)firewood which was laying on the ground, when the tree naturally fell on him. More than that i cant say,but nobody out getting firewood wants to risk dieing, young or old.
  25. If ive had a hard morning logging up in the freezing cold,i sometimes have a snooze in the afternoon. Does that count?
