  1. Seen a few tractors in my time but laughed out loud at that.
  2. You could try Woods of Swaffham,he has one wall of his gunshop covered in air rifles, worth a try.01760 722609 hope this helps.
  3. Mrs oldwoodcutter loved Mick mcmanus, and disliked steve logan.I enjoyed watching Billy Two Rivers, especially when he'd had enough of his opponent breaking the rules and eventually floored them with his 'tomahawk' chop.
  4. Mrs oldwoodcutters corsa was recalled for somthing or other, and in so doing the radio code was lost.Tried to get them to pay for it but they woudnt have it.Cost me £25.
  5. hs 81r 30 inch for me too, cant fault it,connie, blackthorn hornbeam privet etc
  6. Looked at a connie job this week, the top of the hedge had its whiskers touching 2 wires which were the very old twisted metal ones which looked to have no insulation on at all, running the length of the hedge. I advised client to ask edf to reduce it,and meantime not to touch the hedge at all. Then ide come back and side it up. Incidently,at the end of garden was a high voltage 3 side by side cables to a transformer, and these had actualy been burning the twigs and leaves in the canopy of a sycamore they passed through.
  7. But not usually at this time of year.
  8. A rabbit sitting in a tree?
  9. My 460 is one of the best saws ive ever owned, and i use it at every opportunity, within reason.
  10. Thats bad Matt. What is that in pictures 3,4,and 6 please.
  11. Giving my youngest daughter away at her church wedding yesterday, did the 'father of the bride' speach last night, then danced with mrs oldwoodcutter under the flashing lights with the youngsters til early this morning.Does that count?
  12. My new 460 came with the black and silver filter, been keeping an eye on it and not much dust has got past it yet.
  13. The local borough council made a local land owner reduce a 5 foot barbed wire fence down to 1 metre. He had fenced in both sides of a footpath running through his grounds.Thats all i know mate.
  14. I beleave that its an offence to have barbed wire higher than 1 meter if beside a public path.
  15. Like Littletree ive a genuine army goretex jacket, not the chinese copies. The hood is big enough to have over your helmet and even in a day of pelting rain nothing gets through it.Specially good when on the ground.
  16. Hereabouts its not so much scarfs or china, but a supermarket carrier bag tied to a hedge or fence,as if the wind has blown it there, usually white so highly visible on a dark night.Close by will be something readily convertable to cash.
  17. My 460 is one of the best saws ive ever owned, and i use it for nearly everything on the ground.
  18. Sorry, perhaps i should have been clearer, this pole to house line was of the latest variety - the thick single heavily sheathed shiny one,the house was only 3 years old.My judgement on the day was that it was safe.Ive lived long enough to know never to guess whats around me,or take any cocky chances with anything, especially juice. Thanks for your concerns.
  19. Had a service line touching my back when i dismantled a walnut on tuesday, but i had a good look at it first, specially for squirrill damage to sheathing,as i could see their claw marks on the way up.As for streetside wires i get edf to have a butchers before i go near them. You generally dont get a second chance.
  20. Spent half a day clearing ivy last week and the next morning had sore throat and cough.I've only just shaken the cough off - could be coinsidence but there was a lot of dust coming off it.May be worth watching out for it.
  21. What to do if your good lady is on the far side of the menopause?
  22. Mrs oldwoodcutter and i went to a bulimia awareness fundraising party on saturday night. Blimey, the place was heaving.
  23. I dare say he's got used to working by himself.
  24. Back in the 60s a pal of mine liked to take his sawbench into the woods to log up there, instead of bringing the cord home to log He got a contract to thin larch on a big estate, and when he didnt come home as usual at teatime his wife biked to the phonebox to ring the farm foreman. He drove over to the wood to find the tractor and saw still running, with my mate on top of it,and going by the small number of logs on the ground he'd been like that all day. It was what nowadays youd say was a wake up call for me and i never forgot it.Nor did the foreman who'd been to hell and back as a fepow, but later told me he'd suffered flashbacks of that bench for long enough.
  25. I have to be extra careful nowadays,so i always take someone young or old with me on jobs i used to do alone, not only felling but hedging off the ground.Apart from the safety side,it generally cuts the time down to less than half, than if you do it all by yourself. And i dont fall asleep before ive ate my tea quite so much.
