  1. That's it then. Been good knowing you fellas. I'm thinking of applying for a job with VOSA.
  2. Always the way Dave. Honest post mate. Heal quick.
  3. And can they be dual-action to work on me when I'm handballing logs please?
  4. Some more cracking dogs lads. Chewbacca is nuts! Dutchie last week.
  5. Big day Hodge. Weather looked miserable.
  6. Stella. Sounds like you deserve some. Go on, because you're worth it!
  7. Nicked the base of my thumb last year with a running down 200 when a thin branch snapped on a skinny Willow. Lucky. No stitches and no tendon damage. Came out one-handed trying not to get blood everywhere. Like Woody1 I was rushing. The dog in the picture was little Hennie, circling like a shark licking up the blood! Complacency had kicked in for me, and this was a great wake-up call. Few bites from Silkys, none needing stitches, and none since I started treating them with the respect they deserve.
  8. Smart Deano. You're not just a pretty face are you?
  9. Perfectly acceptable if you loike ragged pruning cuts and want to be out of the game by the time you are 30 with buggered joints.
  10. Great find Ian. These blokes knew their stuff, although some of the slinging looked a bit precarious. Nowt like our French cousins the other week! Awful tree ident, that was clearly a gum. Why do Aussies call certain species of Eucalyptus Mountain Ash? Great tune.
  11. There's a phrase to describe that kind of sneaky behaviour and it rhymes with 'stunts thick'. Charge what you are happy to make that day plus expenses. Jobs a good 'un.
  12. Impressive mate. You reminded me of a silverback casually swinging about.
  13. Oh this could get really nasty.... What have I done?!!!!
  14. Do it sooner rather than later Graham. Tendons shrink after they are ruptured, so the re-attachment process gets more difficult with time. Good luck with it mate.
  15. Reducing epi-covered Limes today. The body count was understandably horrific. I had a thousand-yard stare when I came down.
  16. When doing a reduction, is it permissible to remove branches not because they are necessary for the reduction, but because they have annoyed you in some way? Poked you in the face, jabbed your knackers, snapped your harness elastic on your backside, got stuck in your Caritool etc. Discuss.
  17. Good post Hodge. A lot depends on where the wood will be stored. Not many people think - 'I'll start to sell logs next year, and will start stocking up now'. God I used to sell some shite! Apart from a few select woods anything less than a year old is asking for trouble IMO. Winter-felled stuff can be a little more forgiving because of the reduced sap content. Rob, can you recommend a cheapo MC meter? I mean cheapo, it's only for me, not my customers? Ta.
  18. Very tidy cutting Liam. You can tell how sharp you keep your saw from the pics. Nice one.
  19. Bloody builders. They'll put the HERAS fence up next week to protect the root zone....
  20. It will get wet soon enough mate.
  21. Great truck Joe. Well done mate.
