'Trail of the Dead' by Jon Evans is one of my faves, but noone has ever heard of it! Serial killer stalking the backpacker trail. As good as Alex Garlands 'The Beach' IMO. Buy every Lee Child, Andy McNab, Chris Ryan etc. which are all trash but good fun. 'The Girl with the Dtagon Tattoo' was pretty good, a bit different. Will read the next two in the trilogy shortly. Mark Billinghams Tom Thorne and Mo Hayders Jack Caffery are my favourite coppers at the moment.

Nearly finished that pop. Rakings on Monday. 12 tonnes at an educated guess. All handballed No crane access. No access for anything bigger than a Tranny onto the driveway. Quality firewood for sale next Month.... This job illustrates that local(ish) companies can team up and win biggish jobs, if they look at the big picture. Big advert for Addelam Tree Care here! They are The Real Deal!

Ross about to fell the head. Pretty much everything was rigged up to this point. Came over nicely with a waggoners hitch for a bit of extra security from the ground. 35' of stick on the mat. Lawn survived. Stevo looking happy. He will look different by the time he has finished shifting it tomorrow. Ross and Luke Smith after a good couple of days. Cheers Lads! Lot of cord to shift tomorrow, but the customer has started being a bit of an arse talking about making benches etc. I don't mind for extra dollar, but it's going to get in the way of a high standard clear-up I want to leave tomorrow so we can get paid!

Nice one JP. That is a pretty unforgiving drop zone! Fair bit in those pops Rich, I'm quite impressed by what that City Crane will shift, and would fit in a lot more places than a 50T. Any idea of cost? Mechanical access for our pop would have been nice. I'll put more pics up when I've had a Stella.

2 pops to dismantle. 4 of us on site, Ross Smith doing the big easy tree, I had the smaller but more technically challenging leaner to the right. With the help of a rigging point Ross set in the 2nd big limb up on the right in his tree I had mine down to a fellable pole by first break. Busy day, will have the big stick felled by late morning tomorrow, but every twig has to be handballed out the garden. No machine access. Reason for fells was subsidence issues with shoddily built new houses to the rear.

I like your style mate. Much better than saying you want to compete with the big boys straight off. As said, don't tread on the toes of companies who supply your wage 5 days a week. Don't undercut people just to get work. Know your limits. If you get asked to quote bigger jobs, kick them back to the companies who you work for - they will appreciate it. Insurance wise you could think about taking out Public Liability (NOT a legal requirement) and taking on non-climbing work at first, like hedgecutting, small fells etc. If you are climbing, you need a groundie, so LEGALLY you need Employers Liability on top. Buy new gear bit by bit, by saving up rather than finance. You are pretty young, but if you're good enough you're old enough IMO. Most importantly, don't wear your chainsaw keks like you wear your jeans - I've seen how you young-'uns dress! Good luck with it mate. Keep us posted how you get on.

It's a number Grandad, nowt else. I was at Centreparcs a couple of weeks ago and there were some ugly sights in the pool. Blokes who looked physically past it at 30, stick-thin arms and big fat bellies. The women were worse!

Very similar to mine mate, but I've only got the top two racks as I left the seats in. Mine is a removable ply box. Saws and blower stay out of sight on the bottom shelf. You have made a bang tidy job of that, no mistake.
