  1. The fact that the Husky release has been put back again and again does not fill me with confidence. I hope I'm wrong. Stihl could do with a kick up the backside. This EU emissions thing is utterly pathetic. Who gave those monkeys the right to dictate to us that the main tool of our trade has to be tampered with to it's detriment? My backside produces far more emissions on an average day.
  2. Seen. Craven was up them like Scott Forrest on speed! Amazing trees.
  3. Beware though, last two I bought were about as waterproof as sieves.
  4. Only if you consider 'profit' a swearword!
  5. Public forum lads. FAC/shotgun cert holders remember that!

    Wages??

A decent freelance climber should be able to gross £30k a year. Probably not the longest career in the world, mind.
  7. Again, Clarkes have some top of the range ones in, but they are pricey. Rich Rule sourced my last one in Norway. Again, Google is your friend. 'Merino wool base layer' should come up with loads.
  8. I'm thinking not as high as I used to think! I've done some 110' Lombardys, but you don't get too near the tops of those! Tied in high up a few bigguns doing inspections, but a genuine 100' climb has been pretty rare for me. That's the way I like it. My Calvins never did recover from those Lombardys....
  9. I'll let you know when it gets cold! Merino base layer will go on first when the temp really plummets. You can get battery powered heated socks if you really suffer from cold feet. I've never needed them, but I've heard they are worth the money. Showa Thermos are a good choice, Google them, loads of suppliers. Worth having a few pairs to rotate so you can always put toasty ones on. Yve Clark (Clark Cut and Climb, ad on the right) sells some excellent winter gloves I can't remember the name of. Must check my winter kit out, need to be ready when it arrives....
  10. Nice little vid mate, sweetly done. Love the 'hats off' at the end!
  11. RIP Gary. Absolutely tragic. I'm gutted.
  12. 31 Butler. Jesus. Sorry mate. I have the number of a very efficient yet sympathetic clinic in Switzerland. PM me for details. Shame, you were a good laugh on here.
  13. Read the thread title please Mike. Feel free to start your own 'Bad Karma' thread.
  14. Crikey Reg, I wouldn't have fancied climbing that beast on a still day! Well done, impressive as ever.
  15. We have a winner for tonight's best post.
  16. I was told by my sister in law that buying work gear for Christmas is sad (she has to buy for me this year). Here is a pic of her to brighten your night.
  17. The truth has been bent. Rich is a Viking-looking 6'4" Smoggy, but his sabbatical in Thailand was being a 'ping-pong' girl, not a Muay-Thai hardass.
  18. Same here Stuart, but AKU Crodas here. Totally agree about the ground work aspect. It is a good thread, and I would love input from people who have cut their feet whilst climbing. If they can use a computer....
  19. I used to do surveys from the cage Dave (for mobile telecomms). When things shifted to this job, which is, shall we say, a bit more 'active', the old survival mechanism kicked in.
  20. BTW I know what you mean about the Mackems, but The Boss is playing at theirs next year so I'll have to go again!
  21. I might take you up on that mate, but I want Rich along as my minder!
  22. Me. Depends how much ground work I will be doing.
