  1. Could be the way forward for a cack-handed idiot like me with the temper of a sweating stick of nitroglycerine! Yeah, it seems a bit pricey, but would be well worth the investment if it works well. I have trouble threading my belt through the loops on my trousers. As Dak said, any comments on them most welcome.
  2. Were they still attached to some limbs?
  3. Slumming it again Mark? Stunning. Where is it?
  4. I was thinking of saving a bit of time and just repeatedly stabbing myself in the hands with a variety of implements. You're right Drew, need to get on the splicing bus this winter. What's this wand thing I've heard about?
  5. Damn! I thought that old dude on the doublebraid vid made it look too easy!
  6. Are the hollow 'pushing' fids easier to work with?
  7. Ha ha! Most of my reductions end up with a grind mate!
  8. Please Tom, and what overall length did you go for?
  9. Nice shape. I think most reductions make the tree look worse, not better, but that is quality.
  10. I was quite proud of a job I today in between felling some willows and connies. Luckily it flushed away ok without any dramas.
  11. I'll have another look mate. The bottom of my truck seems to get minging really easily, though! You aren't meant to go under the unpropped body you know?
  12. Give me your dinner money or else! Utilising the space under the tipper bed is a good idea, but I don't think you can compare the storage space gained by racking the rear cab out. We never have more than 3 and the dog in the cab at work, so it made sense for my. It's just a simple ply coffin box with no ends that sits across the rear seats. I carry a couple of spare ton bags under the tipper, always handy!
  13. Poem received from my bro today, written for the Poppy Appeal abusers: This land was built from blood and tears, The Sacrifice of 2000 years. The Romans came, the Vikings too, So why should we be afraid of you? Mark my words, and mark them well, It was 1066 when we last fell. When it comes to a fight we hate to lose, So respect our dead, or leave. You choose.
  14. Why not just cut loads of crosses in it with a blunt chainsaw, expecting the stump to disappear in about 6 weeks? Seems to be the norm round here.... Sorry Rhys!
  15. I agree Jonny, but I sometimes feel a bit of a thicko quoting a post just above my reply? Your reply, however, is basically an admittance that your throughbox solution is shite compared to my cheapo plywood lash-up.
  16. Wasn't aimed at your post Jonny, you snuck your solution in while I was commenting on Centrals. Through box impossible to access with my ali sides which are bolted to the dropsides. There is acres of space above the seats in the rear of a D/C. Why not use it? Also doesn't screw the truck for resale to other trades. And a throughbox would limit my chip capacity to 3.75T instead of 4....
  17. That's a shite solution. You can't put your kit away at the end of a job with over a tonne of chip in the back. I've put a pic of my D/C plywood rack up before, I'll take another one. It sits on top of the rear seats, and can be taken out in minutes for those lucrative 6-person taxi moments!
  18. Could get the lot shifted with a farmer mate from Sutton Valence, but would need a little bit of notice.
  19. Welcome Grandad. If you could get some pics out of your old Box Brownie onto this forum we would all appreciate it!
