  1. Seriously Ben, if you come up with the solution you could get very rich indeed!
  2. I'm catchin' what your'e throwin' mate!
  3. I believe new EU regs allow anyone who is a badass tree killer with a harness and stuff to run any vehicle on red diesel, and with no tax, as long as you say 'OOO-ARRRRR' every now and again. Straight up, fat bloke down the pub said, and his brothers wifes sisters uncle is in charge of making the law.
  4. In truth, I seem to have the customer side of things under control. I won't work for idiots who try and tell me how to do my job. You can weed them out at the quote stage. My current PITA is bank transfers for payment. I stopped taking cheques this year. 90% are instant, but some still take 3 days. Grinds my beef. It's my money, not yours Santander, now put it in my account!
  5. Rob, you misunderstand me. It is an ongoing problem....
  6. And there is always some cock saying 'it will be easy as it has been done before', and thinks that each tree requires one cut.
  7. I enjoy felling them, but don't reduce previously topped 60' 'hedges' to 30' anymore. Life is too short.
  8. Sorry lads, this was in response to the 'what's it got to do with VOSA' question. I nipped out for a bit and missed about 20 responses! Fair play for pulling me up Rover, I have no wish to start that old debate again. I don't think even Judge John Deeds knows the answers anymore!
  9. Customer sounded a right cock Reg. Fair play on a good result. No fun long stints without a break or a drink. I'm taking off a few selected Oak limbs tomorrow in a big garden with a big drop zone for a lovely couple who are really handy with the kettle. I'll be sure to think about you!
  10. Wouldn't want much lateral force on that anchor James. Fine vertically. I tend to measure the diameter of my anchor points in feet these days, mind....
  11. Simon, that is unreal! How did you stand the butt up, or did the feller do a Gerry Beranek at about 35ft?!! How far is it from the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel? Stayed there a couple of years back. Lovely spot.
  12. I was ripping Tom mate, thinking they were all for the mill! I reckon you're right, timber still 'seasons' in water. Look how well driftwood burns. Mind you, that be be helped by the Exxon Valdiz....
  13. None, apart from America and our Antipodean friends say arborist. 'Arboriculturalist' is this the word you are are searching for my friend. I have no answer, I'm afraid, although I understand my pal Hamadryad has leather patches on the arse of his chainsaw trousers, so you would do well to listen to him....
  14. I had a morbid fear of heights when I was about 17. I'm a bit of a shortarse, and the bouncers in the Bigg market kept stopping me going into bars with my mates.
  15. Very honest sales pitch on ebay! Very interesting concept. I would love that myself, but it doesn't have vanity mirrors.
  16. They'll need drying out before he burns them Tom.
  17. Thought provoking stuff Nod. You should never stop thinking and questioning, and remembering that quoted figures are for brand new gear in perfect nick. Possibly not reliable for 19mm PB with multiple Silky nicks that has been marinated in bar oil....
