1. Yeah mine looks fine though. Peeled back the outer cover a bit(not that easy to do) and could see the wire core was very clean with no hint of rust. I reckon here lies the problem(the damage being were the doubled back core ends.) This could... 1. Possibly be the cause, maybe the tail end rubs the coating off the steel allowing it to rust quickly. 2. Make it difficult to assess if the rope is thining/thickening due to wear/rust as it is right on the taper. Obviously I'm jumping to a bit of a conclusion here, just seems to be a bit of a coincidence to me. Anyway if nothing else the thread has no doubt made a load of us go and check our strops a bit more. Or bin them and stick to using rope which is easier to check.
2. Monkeysteve did the strop snap at the point where the steel core has doubled back on its self and then ends? Looking at my yale strop (which is exactly the same) it seems to be the case which if so is more than a coincidence to me.
3. What happens to the billions that die never knowing about God?
4. I think Christians have made more than enough claims about Jesus for everyone. Jesus may have existed as a man but 'God' doesnt.
5. I'd probably climb it, might not want to rig stuff off it though! Well certainly nothing bigger than I could rig one handed. Has it been checked out for inotus, and other stuff?
6. Can I ask what 'maxijacketing' is? I would also like to know what the inspection criteria is please? Thanks
7. Good bit of info there. How does ring barking apples and pear trees not kill them when I understood that if you remove the cambium the tree will die?
8. Now what on earth would give you that idea?
9. Can I get a discount for buying 3? You never know if your going to get a nasty infection in all 3 eyes at the same time!
10. 046 is a great saw and well worth repairing, as long as the rest of it snt on its last legs. Try removing the wire from the ignition coil which is the cut out then give it a try. Note though just test to see if it sparks,if you try and succeed in firing the saw up you wont be able to turn it off by the switch.
11. Good to see no injury came of the failure. Looks like an item that isnt worth getting inspected since well it cant be!
12. Havent read the whole thread but maybe have a read of Derren Browns "Tricks of the mind" has a good section on how to remember things. I think:001_tongue: Joking aside it is good though but you do have to practice quite a bit like most things. telephone,sausage,monkey,buttons,book..... springs to mind!
13. Cant you just do the job through the week? Money would be more reasonable then.
14. Pay good rates then.
15. I reckon its a sport Billy bag.
16. Are they the new fandangled coronet/fracture stump pruning cuts?
17. Ha you cut it down but complained someone had graffitied it! I bet I know what the tree would rather have. Only taking the pee a bit , thought it looked quite cool and better than being set on fire which is what usually happens.
18. Well I saw a few bits that look like they fell off!
19. Staining from nails/other bits of steel?
20. I have a few broken ribs(well healed now) to know to never trust them.
21. Thats well cool.
22. Well since the price of oil has apparently doubled because of the trouble in Libya the £8 a gallon seems to be on the cards:thumbdown: Good info and post:thumbup1: If they have to put taxes up then put them up on income tax imo.
23. Would a MEWP with a trailer be a better option?
24. Fights usually break out over threads like this. Have a quick search for "husky or stihl" Out of the saws you listed I would go for MS660, brilliant saws. But in all honesty the 395 will be just as good.
25. Now that was quite brilliant:thumbup1::lol: Second one, seen that before not nice!
