  1. I dont know anyone who has had an accident with a big saw but quite a few that have with small saws. I'm not sure if that means they are safer or not, but I guess an accident with an 088 is going to be fairly brutal! Although did have a big dolmar kick out of a log and swipe me in the side of the knee once, that hurt quite a bit.
  2. Yeah you keep an eye for saws, I know what I'll be staring at!
  3. Here we go. Landscape architect - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Seems slightly different to the formal or more well known architect associated with building construction. I dont particularly like people who purposely deceive others to 'get in there' either by blagging who they are or what they do. I dont loose any sleep over it mind,
  4. I suppose if your a fool for using a chainsaw without any training then I'm one too for using a cut off saw also with out any training. If you were using that saw to make a few quid by doing a bit of tree work then IMO you would be a fool. But as it goes I dont see how anyone could see joe public as being idiots if they want to buy a saw and just use it for personal use. It always seems to make the papers when someone has a fatal accident with a chainsaw, but I would put a large bet on that many more people die every year falling off step ladders while doing a bit of diy home repairs. Although I can see the painteranddecoratortalk forum having a good old whinge too.
  5. Hate hearing these stories, thieving gits. But please people get some decent alarms that will either txt you or call you when activated. They are quite cheap and easy to install. I know we shouldn't have to go to these lengths but it can save a hell of a lot of grief.
  6. Could always ask Stihl to add a few more pounds if its not going to make any difference. Especially if it makes people feel more like a man. Its not going to make any difference hanging from your harness but that little bit extra will on the wrists and elbows I bet. Theres only 1.5lb in difference between an 046 and 066 when your chogging all day with one you can tell. Anyway I'm not as strong as some of you.
  7. Might also increase the sales of the AMA type of small top handles.
  8. I think that manufactures didn't help with recent diesel engines when they started to introduce 18,000-20,000 mile service intervals! I good way to sludge up the engine. Your right about egr valves, they seem to cause endless amounts of problems. I have also noticed that dpf's (diesel particulate filter) are causing a lot of hassle and big expense if the vehicles aren't driven 'right'
  9. I think you added another 10mpg on there from what I can see. Quick car though, insurance would also cost a few quid though. What Im saying is diesel motoring clearly isnt what it used to be. You will also find a lot of 320d owners with blown engines due to turbo failure.
  10. I was thinking about this the other day. The only real reasons for buying a diesel were , 1 They were reliable and tuff 2 They returned a good mpg. It seems that they arent as economical now as they were in the past. Plus a lot dont get past the 80k mark before blowing a turbo,a head gasket or snapping a cam belt. Makes you wonder if its even worth buying a diesel these days! Lpg seems a better option.
  11. Surely adding weight is the LAST thing to do to a top handle!!! If those details are right and the husky is as good as it looks like it will be then maybe Stihl has made a big mistake. Could be the end of the mighty 020!
  12. An old time classic that has to be watched. bbc1
  13. Just watched this. Good to see the men must get money at what ever cost. Explains a lot I suppose, with some.
  14. Thats not good, and btw sry to hear since I assume you knew him.
  15. No one ever told me that! I suppose theres not really any chance of them failing. Sometimes its best not to know! Thanks:thumbup1:
  16. If you can position yourself so you dont just get pulled back into the main stem but sideways you can lean back away from the branch and sort of bounce along sideway, if that makes any sense! I remember back in college the tutor saying try to hold onto anything even if its epidermic as it will give you that bit of extra help(some of its mental). Getting out is the easy bit, getting back in is a whole other thread though!
  17. Why is that?
  18. Was the guy who died using waste oil or was it from new stuff? I only ask because I thought it was waste that was carcinogenic, otherwise I would of thought the amount we breathe in and get on our face and hands each day would cause a lot of us to drop like flies.

    Boredom Tax?

Well I reckon there should also be a fine for those posting complaining about a pointless thread complaining about pointless posts! Oh and aye.
  20. Could it be a branch from another apple thats now been removed? I woulda thought a hanger would die before it had a chance to fuse with live wood. Excellent though whatever the story.
  21. Sounds like you know what to do next time then, take the points. I did it awhile ago, thought it was ok and better than getting 3 points, so what if it cost a few quid I shouldnt have been speeding in the first place. I bet you had a right monk on all day.
  22. The legal law part. Rest breaks : Directgov - Employment 20 mins in 6 hours seems a bit tight to me!
  23. I'm sure the daily mail have changed that story from when I read it this morning! Anyhow must of been terrible for the family and neighbours:thumbdown:
  24. Good stuff if thats how its best for you. I'd be gutted if I didnt have time for a bit of a nap at dinner. As for doobin! surely you gotta be extracting the urine on those hours!
  25. I bet they wouldnt try that hammer swing blow on a MS200T chain brake. Goes to show if you dont hang silly weights off your cheapo chainsaw it will probably be ok.
