  1. Yep your right, but I trump that with bacteria. All hail that mold hating animal/plant/Monera.
  2. I knew you were an avid fisherman but......
  3. Incredible work.
  4. Going off on a slight tangent, havent trees only been about for the last 250 million years or so? If so praise the algae of the ancient world.
  5. I have quite a few different ideas for the arb industry but 2 I reckon are good. Ill prob never get around to do anything about it though. Good luck with your invention, hope you all the best.
  6. Do you restart it on choke or after refueling?
  7. How else am I supposed to pay for a yacht?
  8. Tree work is a very very easy profession to get into. Therefore there are loads of 'tree surgeons' looking for work. As for running out of trees, I dont think so. There are plenty of big trees Ive quoted works on that never get done, there will be plenty left for the future so not to worry.
  9. For one small job every two weeks surely there is no way it can be viable. As a full time business no doubt it will be.
  10. I voted for the client as 99.9% of the time its just a job. Always try to give the best advice I can in regards to the tree but its the customers decision for me at the end of the day(H8 that saying!) Have sort of refused to do tree work only on a handful of occasions when I thought it was 'not right'. I cant afford to have a conscience I'm afraid.
  11. Probably just flooded. Leave the plug out for a good while then give it a try. You could try turning it over with the ignition off, the plug out and the saw upside to help/speed it up.
  12. You've lost me. well if you think I'm stamping my feet at something. I just couldnt have someone graft for me and not pay them, that's all I'm saying. Couldnt care what anyone else does, at least if they have a few people gaining experience and not having to pay them they can be more competitive than others. Everyones a winner. I suppose in answer the the OP, no arb isn't the only industry there are plenty of others. As long as people are genuinely learning a skill(hopefully not just dragging brash as I've seen before!) or gaining a job then good luck.
  13. Of course not. Tbh I don't see the connection. Im not making the customer any money by proving them with a free quote.
  14. With the"big society" on the way we will all soon have to be volunteers working free. Have had loads of cv's and people asking for jobs over the years but not one has said they would do it for free to gain experience, quite a lot have been college leavers. Tbh I couldnt have someone working and not pay them or let then think they arent getting paid.
  15. Go on then man!! You have to tell us what it was??? I invented rocket boots.
  16. What I would say is take your time when trying a new system out. I tried a vt and hitch climber after using just a prussik and side strop(im already one step ahead of you:biggrin:) for nigh on 15 years. It was an experience i can tell you that! Back to the prussik for now untili get the time to take my time learning how to use it properly.
  17. Yeah mine looks fine though. Peeled back the outer cover a bit(not that easy to do) and could see the wire core was very clean with no hint of rust. I reckon here lies the problem(the damage being were the doubled back core ends.) This could... 1. Possibly be the cause, maybe the tail end rubs the coating off the steel allowing it to rust quickly. 2. Make it difficult to assess if the rope is thining/thickening due to wear/rust as it is right on the taper. Obviously I'm jumping to a bit of a conclusion here, just seems to be a bit of a coincidence to me. Anyway if nothing else the thread has no doubt made a load of us go and check our strops a bit more. Or bin them and stick to using rope which is easier to check.
  18. Monkeysteve did the strop snap at the point where the steel core has doubled back on its self and then ends? Looking at my yale strop (which is exactly the same) it seems to be the case which if so is more than a coincidence to me.
  19. What happens to the billions that die never knowing about God?
  20. I think Christians have made more than enough claims about Jesus for everyone. Jesus may have existed as a man but 'God' doesnt.
  21. I'd probably climb it, might not want to rig stuff off it though! Well certainly nothing bigger than I could rig one handed. Has it been checked out for inotus, and other stuff?
  22. Can I ask what 'maxijacketing' is? I would also like to know what the inspection criteria is please? Thanks
  23. Good bit of info there. How does ring barking apples and pear trees not kill them when I understood that if you remove the cambium the tree will die?
