  1. There is a nice big beech in Porters along with some lesser specimens. Its less than 400yards from my house
  2. leave it with me a couple of days and I'll pm you when may be convienient
  3. Pete I'll take you climbing. Depending what you've done before or not can use the trees in my garden or venture into Porters Wood for an hour or two.
  4. sandbach sticks off here sells kindling wholesale as well I believe. Unless you have a good ready supply of appropriate wood I would buy in.
  5. I'm willing to hire out TW150 with operator ie me. There are various permutations as to how I am willing to work from chipper feeder to bring chipper to job climbing and working on the ground. Depending what you go for depends on the price. Can also hire out with a two man team. pm me or phone if you are interested
  6. common name
  7. If its where I think it is I would say 40% at least.
  8. Why not phone round some garden centres or farms or other places and do some Googling as to who may or may not want wood chip and who may pay for it and who wants it for nowt. I imagine that is what a lot of us have done previously. Its took me over 3 years self employed hard work to develop the contacts I have already so you may see why people may be reluctant to hand information out on a plate.
  9. If you have hard standing and an ability to store a lot and load it biomass people will give you money. The other alternatives are try selling it to landscapers etc or do as I do and give it to farmers.
  10. It is easy you plan your jobs so you have the closest possible tip site. I've just changed from an LDV to a 110 tipper and not noticed the difference in terms of planning for tip sites.
  11. You'd need consent.notification. We recently repollarded a willow and went through the consent process.
  12. Have a chat with the tree officer. He's very approachable.
  13. Are you drying in the bulkbags? If not consider drying in cages. Also it would be more efficient with an insulated container with heaters fan and dehumidifier may not be as cheap per day but will be cheaper for each load dried.
  14. I've used small amounts of it. Its not particularly dense but does burn reasonably when dry.
  15. I wouldn't fancy it unless you find a way of locking them together somehow. Why not just use a long prussik. That said last time I did that I had a 30foot uncontrolled abseil when the thing didn't lock up as it should and my feet slipped
  16. I checked one a couple of weeks ago and they were fine with me. They are a bit slow at processing them. We have a couple of trees which have serious issues from a safety point of view and they are adamant we wait till the application is processed and even then they may refuse the works.
  17. what year? is it smoking lots?
  18. Its alright I posted this 2 years ago. Well sorted for logs for personal use. Never enough to sell mind.
  19. Looked like more than a quarter chassis when I saw it on the ramps. There was some very impressive welding going on by young Ben at the time. You might have spotted my new tipper in the yard as well.
  20. The 58 looks like a series2a to me unless some one has gone tot he trouble of changing the wings and grills off a later model. Most likely a 66 to 72 vintage
  21. I've run 3 makitas two dcs430's and a dcs9010. The dcs430's are 43cc. Fairly lightweight and do a good job. They are cheap but robust even though a fair bit of plastic.
  22. I burn normal house coal in a burner. Yes it produces a bit more ash and yes it leaves a bit of mess on the glass but its easy and cost effective for me. I buy straight from a pit at present at £100 a tonne + my diesel there and back so all in costs about £120 a tonne. I use logs for when I'm in more and the coal goes in when I'm out or for overnight. I know that the price of quality coal is close on £300 a tonne and smokeless coals more so.
  23. I'm with Santander and have no problems other than cheques take over a week to clear
  24. I'm burning black diamonds harvested from the ground in Lancashire. Shame the coal authority are being swines over their mining licence though. Have some nice conifer to really get the heat up.
  25. There was a similar issue with a company near me. They started the business and then were served with a notice. It went through in this case as it was argued that it was still agricultural use.
