  1. Arb wood chip isn't sterile but then again once the sterile stuff hits the floor it will no longer be sterile so defeats the object really. I've sold bulk bags of chip 0.5m3ish in bags at £40 a bag. If I am putting it down for the client then will charge 80 per m3 including the laying fee. This doesn't include any membrane which would be extra to the cost. If I am tipping loose on a drive of clean or well rotted chip then it would be £80 per load which is approx 2.5m3.
  2. If anyone fancies half a day working on the ground tommorow in Wigan at Haigh Hall ring me. Just stacking logs and brash if you have saw tickets then a bit of cutting on the ground. Steve 07970 521692
  3. As CS30 is cross cutting and you are shown how to cut timber up to twice the guide bar length then this should be your guide. Remember there is nothing stopping you putting a larger bar on a saw and using that.
  4. Looking for a ground worker again 4-5 days per week generally just weekdays occasional weekends (very occasional). Work based in Wigan but cover a fairly large area from Southport in one direction to Manchester the other. Initially on a Self employed basis with a view to more permanant position. Pay based on experience. Saw tickets not essential (If you don't have them don't expect to use a saw). Mostly domestic type work. All I ask is that you are hard working and reliable. If interested contact me on 07970 521692 Steve
  5. Looking for a ground worker for Thursday. Some easy domestic work dragging brash and feeding a chipper and clearing up. I can pick up on route from Wigan if needed If interested phone me on 07970 521692.
  6. I've got one. It is a cracking saw. Yes a tad heavy but you soon get used to it. I'm running a 20" sproket nosed bar on mine most of the time and it does the job very well. Occasionally I'll use the 29" bar on it and still copes fine. Biggest downside I have with it is the chain tension can be a bit of a pest at times with it liking making the chain go slack.
  7. Its the small timberwolf gravity fed machine at 35+VAT. They also do a 6" towable machine for 80ish+VAT
  8. If you can't find one Hodgeson Hire at Burscough have a timberwolf for hire at 35+VAT.
  9. Joe will do nicely cheers Dave. I'll give him a bell to confirm with him
  10. Climber wanted for Thursday in St Helens for some pollarding of a couple of silver birch and a Pop. If you aren't into butchery this isn't the job for you. Trees are on a boundary and may require some rigging. I could do is myself but want to make sure its done efficiently. PM me experience and rate and I'll get back to you Steve
  11. Rob I'm guessing you use Mossbourough hall. I've used them on occasions when my chip is too bad to tip elsewhere. There is a place out near culceth that charge £20 a load apparently although I've never been.
  12. Thats starting pay but as experience and skills improve so will the wage.
  13. When I've priced for cutting grass it worked out per garden but with the thought in mind of aimig for £40 per hour.
  14. I'm on the hunt for a ground worker. Initially on a casual/self employed basis in the Wigan Area with a view to a more permanant position if the current climate allows. All I want it someone who is reliable (ie doesn't text me at 8 in the morning saying they can't work), willing to work hard and take critism when its due and if they have a problem able to discuss it with me and preferabbly able to drive so I don't have to pick you up all the time. CS30-31 would be an advantage but not essential as long as you can feed a chipper without shoving rakings through and are able to tidy up well. Work is generally within a 20 mile radius of wigan Initially pay to start at £6.25 an hour if no CS tickets or £6.50 with. I repeat this is initially self employed and casual but at the moment have work most days in the week. If you are interested and want to discuss more phone me on 07970 521692 Steve
  15. I have a beech hedge mixed copper and normal that I trim twice a year that has serious problems with whitefly. The hedge is very healthy regardless of the little critters
  16. Have a word with D Roberts at Coppull they may be able to help or know of a fitter that can 01257 792173
  17. I have 3-4 transit loads of hard wood available to collect from a site in St Helens. All 4-15" diameter. Mostly 6-10 inch cut in lengths (not even lengths). 60% sycamore 35% cherry and a small amount of silver birch and willow. It needs to be gone ASAP. Don't want much for it. If interested phone me for more details. Steve 07970 521692
  18. The one I deal with is Andy Smallshaw
  19. In forestry terms I'm unsure how useful this bit of woodland is to be honest. I know the area well being on one of my regular running haunts. As a woodland for looking at its not bad but I personally don't think it has mega commercial value or oppotunity. The price of 10k seems right to me though. If its like many of the other woods close by it will be TPO as wigan's tree officer can be TPO happy at times and quite rightly in many cases. You should also be aware of potential other liabilties on the site mainly mining related. If I had 10k I would have it but sadly I have not.
  20. If you can't get a flail in then use a clearing saw with mulching blade/shredder knife as the cutting head. Spray regrowth as soon as it comes through.
  21. Try adrian flux. I'm with them age 27 but have 6 years no claims. 800ish quid LDV tipper.
  22. I'm in Wigan and know that one local company is charging £165 for a level load of harwood and 135 for larch. This is based on approx 2m3. What you need to do is pick a price and stick to it. I have people ask about how much for net sacks and they come out with I can get them for a pound. In that case I say buy them for a pound but not from me. You need to do the same with your logs from a tipper. Pick a price and stick to it. Round our way between 100 and 140 a tipper load for mixed wood is fine.
  23. Where about in Wigan is your wood?
  24. I've a 9010 well worth it in my oppinion. Is a tad heavy but at the end of the day I only use it if I have soimething big to fell or ring up so its not used every day. With a 20 inch bar on it is very functional and I can use it for snedding. With a 29" bar on will ring up big oak and beech quite happily.
  25. I'll remember the gob cut on top for next time. I used the biggest saw I had a 90cc makita but did it with a 20inch bar at the top. Plenty of grunt on that size bar
