  1. Theakstons old perculiar for me. Although I pub in Bradford I used to frequent did the best 9% cider ever 2 pints and it was game over Biddendens dry cider if I remember right.
  2. Depends what you want to train for. For me 30 minutes of running is easy but a days climbing I find hard work. If its general fitness you want then cardiovascular exercise is the best looking at running, cycling etc.
  3. Having read through all 16 pages it made me realise I'm not the only one out there who has similar problems. I've said before I'm not fully into tree work but am working towards setting myself up. I'm actually a fully qualified physiotherapist but have become so dissolutioned with it all that I realised I had/have to get out before it does drive me over the edge. For at least the last 12 months I've been walking round with my head in the clouds unable to concentrate at work and on life to the point where I certainly don't care about the work aspect and this has started to affect relationships at home. I've been doing some tree work on and off over the last 2 years and I realised that tree work is the only time I really focus and enjoy what I'm doing in terms of work. Whether it be felling trees or simply chopping firewood it just gives me a massive sense of release and fulfillment. It probably sounds daft really. I've often thought about getting in the car and just driving to try and escape. I'm often late for work (Physio work) because I don't want to be there but no one knows I'm late as no one knows what I do. I'd become a very effective liar, although that came easy as someone who at the age of 26 has already overcome a gambling problem and being a liar was all part and parcel of that. A sense of doom and dread was probably the final straw for me and made me realise how bad things have become As a result of this I made a decision a couple of months back to start by reducing the Physio hours and doing more tree related work for myself rather than the bent company I've done stuff for in the past. Actually get myself fully qualified and hopefully do my RFS cert. I already have a small firewood business which keeps me occupied it doesn't make me much money but I don't care about money (unlike my wife). I'm not blinkered and realise that changing my career won't be the only thing that gets me back on track but I may as well do something I love doing and have the associated stresses of this rather than something I hate and the stresses that come with that. No one really ever realises what problems I have because I am so laid back most of the time and can put a up a good front. Well thats me. 1 hour left before I can get out of the physio office and start chopping some firewood and burning some brash.
  4. The pole system for cleaning windows will be fine till everyone starts getting shoulder injuries from repetitive movements. We had one at an office I've worked at and the contractor dropped the pole on his head. Not all safe afterall. Ended up in A+E with concussion.
  5. The wood briquettes burn well. Not much fuss involved in getting them to burn. Marketing wise I'm not sure. I'm sure at the right price the demand will be there. I have a demand for conifer at the moment which shows you really can sell anything at the right price. If I were selling the briquettes I'd sell them similar to prepacked coal so you can multidrop bags.
  6. Do you meant the reconsituted wood that forms briquettes or coal briquete yype stuff?
  7. Would it not be possible to voluntarily reduce the GVW of the truck to 3499kgs and have it plated as such. This would surely negate the need to do this training. I know you can do it with trailers but not sure about vans though.
  8. I play a washburn BT4 which is a low mid range guitar through a Peavy Bandit Transtube. I can't justify getting a more expensive one. It does most things I need mostly rock to heavy metal so suits me to the ground.
  9. 25-35 per tonne depending where you are and whether delivered or not.
  10. I'd mention it in passing to the landlord just say you are concerned and don't think its that safe. They may care they may not. It just so happens you cut trees for a living if you get the job to take it down then bonus.
  11. Why on earth would you want to sell "old stock". Surely old stock in firewood terms is good as its seasoned.
  12. Aluminium does work harden and become brittle. Best thing is not to drop the stuff too hard or often.
  13. Depends on the type of pigeon doesn't it in terms of destruction of nests. Wood pigeons no no to destruction the nasty flying vermin type street pigeon I thought wasn't protected. I'm probably very very wrong though
  14. Between 40 and 60 for me. I run alot of miles everyweek so have some that have what I need and no stupid gimmics. That said I have spent 90 quid on a pair of running spikes in the past. Last pair of trainers were about 40 pounds and have so far ran about 400 miles in them. Its time for a new pair.
  15. I quite frequently check what people sell for. The cheapest for a bulk bag is 30 quid for hardwood not "tree surgeons waste" ie bought in roadside prices. Up to 90 quid a bulk bag. Tried selling some net bags to the local coal man and they can get net bags loads for £1.15 albeit feels rather wet but money talks. At 50 pounds a bulk bag it seems cheap but then when you add it up to work out the cubic metre price it is obscene really.
  16. Buying in bulk will be the way forward but at present money is tight and selling bagged logs is an experiment hence the 100bags at the price mentioned.
  17. that sounds a lot longer than what I have. At present I'd say its hip height. Looks like I shall have to aquire some more cord.
  18. I've decided I'll learn to footlock and so far so good but I'm unsure what length of prussic to use. The one I'm using at present is way to short. Is there a rough guide to estimate what length you need. The foot side of it I've got spot on its just what length prussic loop once I've sussed that they'll be no stopping me.
  19. I've just got 100 of ebay for 16.50 + about 9 pound p+p. 800mm x 450mm. Works out at about 24p a bag I think. If you by more they are cheaper. Price wise I haven't decided yet
  20. Its alright he'd replied but I've had to change my plans
  21. further pm sent.
  22. I'm debating how much to charge for bagged wood. I've just got some 85x40 bags. I need to compare the size and price with the ones the local coal merchant had in as they are likely to become regular customers provided they don't want them for £1.20 a bag they have had off another company last winter. Explaining the price has gone up alot doesn't seem to make sense to a coal man whos own prices have gone up 100% in a year. Realistically wholesale prices I think I'd be wanting at least £2-2.50 a bag and to my log customers probably £3-4 a bag. I need to tap the local competition and see what they sell for. I know one local company does bulk bag deliveries for 30 quid how they make any money I don't know. The profit margins must be very small when you take into account £20-40 a tonne + delivery and man hours.
  23. 2nd pm sent yesterday awaiting a response?
  24. The test are pretty much the same but a class 7 is a few pounds more.
  25. I had to adjust the idle on my makita 9010 as it wouldn't idle for anything. I need to adjust it back down slightly as it went overboard so have some chain creep. Not going to need to use it for a while so will do it next time its up and running
