  1. I like mine. I mostly do takedowns and I find it excellent for that. Also there isn't much to absorb water, thats a big plus to me here. I have been snagged a few times by the clips that are attached on each side. One day I will get around to cutting them off. I will one day also rivet on some buckles so the braces off my old Komet will plug into them.A big saw drags the harness down for me.
  2. Do the Deer eat the Acorns as well as the leaves?
  3. Went there over over the Xmas period. You can get a ferry from Sharm to Hurdaga if its running and then a bus to Luxor. From there get the Train to Cairo,$30US overnight including dinner.Great service but getting a ticket can be a hassle. I think you might tire of Sharm in a few days, its so much different than mainland Egypt. You will need to get a Visa at the airport if you wish to travel off the Sinai peninsula.Costs $15US,get it at the visa desk at the airport. Really enjoyed Egypt on the whole, went to Luxor,Cairo,Alexandria,Port Saied,Ismalea,Sharm etc. The food outside of Sharm was exceptional and the people alot more freindly than on the Sinai Penisula.Get to Luxor if your able.
  4. She really did sound mental, fair play to you though. Some times when difficult clients sense they are winding you up,it only makes it worse.
  5. They did the same thing round here last summer selling Generators. Flash car, fake accent etc.
  6. If each pair comes with free Herpes, then I'll let you keep them.
  7. Horse logging is obsolete. Moose logging is the future.
  8. Only if you rebuild the water ski's,otherwise no good.
  9. You might try shopping in Germany. They used to be alot cheaper than the UK.
  10. Sorry its alot different. The 78&79 models came with backwards reverse and refective mirrors as standard.
  11. This stuff. Bought some Sthil "Camel Back"style hydration packs last year. I have an ex army Camel Back.Works well but can't stand it when climbing.
  12. Supurb!
  13. Ten years ago my first job in London paid £40 per day cash. That was practically doing nothing for it. But I didn't care as there was Beer to be drunk and Raves to attend.
  14. Seems to me as though the day rates for climbers hasn't risen much in the five years I have been out of the UK. Just for the interest, here's a poll to see what the employees of Arb firms make.
  15. Do what Brian and Carrol want. In these cases I normally strip the stem on my way back to the anchor point, take out a wee top and then using a high anchor point reduce the remaining lateral branches before taking care of the stripped stem. Reducing the remaining lateral branches makes for a more rounded shape to the remaining Tree and may also retard the higher branches in their new job as "tops".
  16. How much are you making a day at the moment mate?
  17. I would suggest making yourself available to other companies for weekend work for a start. That way you have a steady wage as well as a justifiable extra rate on the weekends.I realise that this means the opposite of what you intend initially. If your skills are up to the level required of a contractor, its likely that some extra work has already been offered to you.As such you should have an idea of what you are worth?
  18. Really is sad. The offenders know that what they are doing is all wrong, its just that they don't care. They care that they can enjoy the same social benefits as those who pay tax and contribute to society in a positive way. Its Spring here now and soon the Tarmac Lorries will roll off the Ferry for another summer of Crap work and theiving.
  19. All round chainsaw protective trousers follow the same line of thinking as the protective jackets. Designed by and approved by those not involved in the industry.IMHO. I watched a new climber the other day sporting a pair of dashing chainsaw proof overalls (they exisit here in Scandinavia) and trying not to imagine what that person will smell like at the end of a hot weeks weather.
  20. Interesting to read that the DNA recovered from the black cat hanging in the picture was totally F.catus and not crossed with any other bigger species. http://scienceblogs.com/tetrapodzoology/2007/03/australias_new_feral_mega_cats.php
  21. Back home Feral cats are a threat to the native bird life.Hunters are encouraged to shoot them on site and the government also targets them, especially in reserves. My mate and I flew into the bush on a Deer stalking trip,we were about 30km back in some pretty rugged country and my mate bags a bloody cat! This was fairly big as cats get,but to be honest just a large house cat sized one.So they do get around.
  22. I think its a lack of communication between contractors and the people tasked with the care of the Trees. In your photo's I doubt that the works would have gone ahead if the authorities knew in advance the type and extent of the excavations?
  23. I am still a little amazed that one hasn't been captured or killed, either by accident or hunting. Especially in the days of fox hunts,as I presume that a hundred or more Dogs would have had a hard time leaving a giant cat alone! I am not drawing anyones sightings into doubt, imagine the media frenzy when one finally does run out of luck.
  24. Have two 441's,I think they fill the gap between the MS361 or MS390 and the 066 nicely. See if you can have a go with the others and see what you think.
  25. No idea why it was shot. Does look to be in good condition for winter, maybe it was worrying stock?
