  1. I would suggest making yourself available to other companies for weekend work for a start. That way you have a steady wage as well as a justifiable extra rate on the weekends.I realise that this means the opposite of what you intend initially. If your skills are up to the level required of a contractor, its likely that some extra work has already been offered to you.As such you should have an idea of what you are worth?
  2. Really is sad. The offenders know that what they are doing is all wrong, its just that they don't care. They care that they can enjoy the same social benefits as those who pay tax and contribute to society in a positive way. Its Spring here now and soon the Tarmac Lorries will roll off the Ferry for another summer of Crap work and theiving.
  3. All round chainsaw protective trousers follow the same line of thinking as the protective jackets. Designed by and approved by those not involved in the industry.IMHO. I watched a new climber the other day sporting a pair of dashing chainsaw proof overalls (they exisit here in Scandinavia) and trying not to imagine what that person will smell like at the end of a hot weeks weather.
  4. Interesting to read that the DNA recovered from the black cat hanging in the picture was totally F.catus and not crossed with any other bigger species. http://scienceblogs.com/tetrapodzoology/2007/03/australias_new_feral_mega_cats.php
  5. Back home Feral cats are a threat to the native bird life.Hunters are encouraged to shoot them on site and the government also targets them, especially in reserves. My mate and I flew into the bush on a Deer stalking trip,we were about 30km back in some pretty rugged country and my mate bags a bloody cat! This was fairly big as cats get,but to be honest just a large house cat sized one.So they do get around.
  6. I think its a lack of communication between contractors and the people tasked with the care of the Trees. In your photo's I doubt that the works would have gone ahead if the authorities knew in advance the type and extent of the excavations?
  7. I am still a little amazed that one hasn't been captured or killed, either by accident or hunting. Especially in the days of fox hunts,as I presume that a hundred or more Dogs would have had a hard time leaving a giant cat alone! I am not drawing anyones sightings into doubt, imagine the media frenzy when one finally does run out of luck.
  8. Have two 441's,I think they fill the gap between the MS361 or MS390 and the 066 nicely. See if you can have a go with the others and see what you think.
  9. No idea why it was shot. Does look to be in good condition for winter, maybe it was worrying stock?
  10. Here is a Gaupa (lynx) This one was almost 20kg in weight. They are seldom seen here in Norway apparantly,so this guy was lucky to bag one.
  11. Saw this on another site. Has anyone shot one of these or even taken a picture of one?I understand that people were once allowed to keep predatory cats as pets in the UK,so perhaps there is a breeding population of them? http://www.advertiser24.co.uk/content/advertiser24/news/story.aspx?brand=NOROnline&category=News&tBrand=NOROnline&tCategory=News&itemid=NOED07%20Apr%202009%2009%3A01%3A21%3A600
  12. I have one of these back home. Dangerously slow. Mine is Green and that makes it slower probably.
  13. Dosn't matter how big the chipper is....Someone will still jamb somthing into it that won't fit. The time saved by being able to move the chipper to the brush with a tracked machine, out weighs the disadvantage of smaller diameter capacity.
  14. I think it looks pretty good John. Imagine how much chip you could get into a Caravan!
  15. Good thing is wasn't a concreate pole.
  16. I guess that the winch you will get will have a ground anchor like Daves one?I thought you were going to mount your Werner winch on three point linkage so thats where I was wrong. If you ever need to find out how bogged a Mog can get,I gladly volunteer my services
  17. I can only imagine that a mid mounted winch is never strung facing the way you need it at the time. Also it must have been nasty sliding yourself under a stuck wagon to poke the cable through the fairlead that was facing the way you need it.
  18. Will the three point linkage on the front be able to handle pulling your Mog out if its loaded and bogged? I know it will depend on how stuck it is (ie up to the axels) but I have bent the blade on the mini digger when using it as a ground anchor and pulled various other "anchors" apart when recovering my Mog with just a large Turfor winch.
  19. Here is the video of the Zipline we made in action. A bit slow in raising the wood but heaps better that lugging the timber down the hill and over a little Bridge. [ame] [/ame]
  20. FJ70 Cruiser that one.Probably last of the "propper" Cruisers.Big non Turbo Diesel,no fancey bits. They still manufacture them for export.
  21. Funny thing was that the Crusier had been "stiched" on both sides.None of the rounds had made it through into the cab. I was told that the Bedouin sometimes hammer vehicles that they find in area's that they feel belong to them.In the end,I don't know the story behind the car.
  22. Nice pic's indeed! Can't beleive the weather is so nice over there. I am being robbed.
  23. Here is a landcruiser I spotted in Egypt.Someone had shot it up.
  24. Hummer. If its an H2,big Chev V8.Loads of power and very comfy.
  25. Works well, abit slow with the chain hoist but it easy to control the logs.
