  1. Very nice indeed! Thanks for posting it!
  2. Phew! Better you than me mate!
  3. I shot it with a .22 air rifle. It wasn't very far away and its demise was swift.I hit it in the head from above.
  4. Thats out of order.Like you,I'd have thrown it over the house.
  5. This sunday was great because I shot the last cat that was pooing in my garden. All before I had had my first coffee, productive day indeed!
  6. No.Some 090's have a gear drive and kick back like you wouldn't beleive. Don't stall it in a cut either. Mongrel things.
  7. New graduates in any profession all to often beleive that know it all,it just comes from being young and eager. If they have the "minerals" they will stick around,if not they find another craft more suitable. Its probably been like this forever.
  8. Great pics! Not being funny, but is the band "Portishead" from that area?
  9. I didn't either,but it took all of 5minutes to set one up:001_smile:
  10. I guess it all depends on who you are charging the day rate to.In instances of day hire,we are often tasked with the removal of marked or indicated trees. As well as removing other branches/Trees in the course of their earth moving or machine moving operations.
  11. +1 Day rate to a private person is just an invitation for them to abuse your production capacity or demonstrate their ignorance of our craft.IMHO For large commercial clients we charge day rate, but that is for climbing/chipping only.No clean up,no chip hauling etc.
  12. At the yard from 0630 summer, and as late as 0800 middle of winter.
  13. Well done with the Deer! I have never seen a special tool to keep the Brisket open before. We usually use a stick...but thats Antipodians for you eh.
  14. I think we have it right there. No ammount of training or experiance will completly eliminate the risk of kick back. There are to many factors that can cause it.The size of the saw and log in question are irrelevent in my opinion, bad technique sounds like the cause here, and that can cause injury with a 088 or a silky.
  15. My thoughts to him and his family.A tradgic accident and a reminder to us all.
  16. If you do get the job Dean,it should easily pay for a new paint job on your landy. And a coat for Teddy....you miserable sod.
  17. Thats a sentiment that is to often disregarded, especially around where I live.Pops seem to have been a quick solution to gaining large tree stock in parks. They grow big fast and fail big and fast. Top marks on a good job and hats off to the people with the knowledge to know when the tree's time was up.
  18. Looks good that does! Wish I could weld outside like that! I'd need scuba gear at the moment....bloody rain.....
  19. Did you know Fred Dibnah? He was also a pretty handy sort of bloke:001_tongue: Welcome to the forum mate and best of luck in the job search.
  20. Thanks Andy. I had a welding/drilling/threading feista and made one up.I just wanted to know what it was called. Thanks again
  21. Hello I don't have a picture of this item, but need to know its name. It is the fitting that connects the flexable hydraulic hose to the ridgid steel pipe that runs into the body of a hydraulic ram. It is about an inch square and is connected to the flexable hydraulic hose by a double male fitting. It is welded to the pipe that goes to the ram body. I will upload photos when I can. Thanks in advance
  22. I think that your confidence in your ability should progress with the size of the Trees you find yourself climbing. If I find myself getting abit shakey, then I slow right down, think through what I am about to do and change my plans if what I intended to do now sounds like a bad idea.
