  1. Hey all. Can anyone help us with the ID of this fungus growing 12ft from the base of a 6ft diameter veteran Ash. its name is Barry up til now. Cheers
  2. I'm quoting cheap at the mo. just to make sure the work keeps rolling in. between 220 and 600 a day depending on kit, labour, loads to remove from site etc. however last week took down 2 large Leyland Cypress. only afterwards discovered we undercut the next best quote by 2100. GUTTED.
  3. depends who you work for i'm told. some company's insurance demand refresher courses. most dont. bet HSE wil have somthing to say on the matter soon.
  4. hey all, i have this beautiful Walnut in my garden which a previous home owner aparently neglected.Theres blue tits living inside this wound which looks to be healing ok. it doesn't need CPR yet however the multi stems swing wildly in high wind. I braced it around 5 years ago. it looks like it either needs 5 or 6 more braces soon or some serious weight removing from the extremities. I've allways been reluctant to touch it as there's no buildings near by, just a few chickens underneath. What do you think guys and girls? leave the old girl be or look in to prelonging her existance?
  5. wel in. alot to remember for that one.
  6. cos it's only 2 way opening. think i'll leaf it on. wel, until my next inspection! i have full confidence in them; just sounds like mr LOLER and mrs HSE don't. how much more red tape will continue to project from their behind!
  7. hey all. just got a new wire strop. whats the best way to cut the snap hook off whick i'm told LOLER wil fail. cheers for any sugestions.
  8. nice one. looks like theres valid arguments for both. i hear new HSE legeslation in from feb 2010: climbers helmets must have side inpact protection. presumably both helmets have this? think i'm going for the petzels. tried and tested.

I'm about to buy 2 climbers helmets, up until now have allways gone for the peakless Huskies. Been looking at the Stein and petzels. cheers and enjoy the sunshine!
