  1. That's ok Paul & a well considered & composed post, however, we also need to educate climbers in the removal of dead/hazard trees. The methods used from a mewp can vary significantly, especially rigging. In my mind, climbers need to work on "easy" dead trees, so when a real monster turns up, then they have a much better chance of accurately assessing & working it.
  2. ? Strange comment about a safety issue
  3. dead trees - smooth & gentle. Shock is what causes you problems
  4. Could be the hatz silent pack - my bad
  5. looks like a TP with a Deutzt engine
  6. Funny Reg. Gotta love a bad looser
  7. I sharpen my sugoi - it take a little patience but is worth the effort. Smaller blades cannot be hand sharpened as are impulse hardened
  8. Wow!!! Hard words indeed Your impressions are more from 1993 than 2013 & it sounds like you still have a pic of maggie thatcher on your bedroom wall to jerk off over In this age of cuts & austerity it is about best value - we in LaLa land work, on a whole bloody hard. We get no thanks, provide emergency cover 365 days a year, spend a massive amount of time listening to those who demand our work, less working for those who deserve or need it, dragging brash through dog crap a used nappies on glamorous estates & being scorned by those who can always do better. Right I'm gonna listen to some Billy Bragg & doze off after reading socialist worker
  9. The climber was a guy called Harold "Hap" Johnson from the north west US. He was also the climber in this;
  10. Stunning. Bear is 3 now & 1/2 malamute & 1/2 GSD
  11. tachyon is smooth? It feels quite soft in my hand, but not smooth in comparison to say PI or blaze
  12. Why can't they sort out the problems & charge £35? Simples
  13. I'm not having any issues with my PI. I'm curious to see if it's all ropes or construction dependant.
  14. That does not look kind on the rope. Has anyone had issues with ropes other than Imoi & tachion?
  15. Ty - it's too easy to hate & if thats all you can do you are weak & myopic. With those on the streets, have you ever considered how & why they ended there? Not a proactive choice for many I guarentee
  16. PM Paul RopeTek | Reaching New Heights?.
  17. A pile of brash behind the barriers seems to help. The idiots will walk around barriers, duck under tape etc but the don't like lifting there feet to step over branches
  18. If a tree is favoring to fall very strongly, why do you need a wedge? It's not going to sit-back or require any help getting it moving
  19. Keeping cutting, although reducing the chance of barbers chair, can leave you standing at the stump & exposed. Most of the time that is OK, BUT the rest of the time that can be dangerous at the least. I would rather not be there
  20. Nice job. Looked like fun with a big fell to finnish
  21. If your not felling for timber & the tree is sound, then fell it where you want
  22. Climbing SRT means the rope is static. If you start running access lines across branches etc your going to ruin them quickly
  23. Clean & accurate
