  1. You can't beat stupid either - only because you would not pay me if I did
  2. Outcuts a 440 & has better AV set-up. However does not feel as aggressive. Different saw to the 460/461 which was developed to fill a slightly different niche
  3. 660 is an amazing saw & has the best power to weight ratio of any commercial saw at the moment. Looking forward to seeing what Stihl have done with is. The 441 is a great success - hope it follows suit
  4. I'm sure there are some speculators & bankers who will bank-roll the import of virgin timber into the UK. Then, when we are a captive market hike the price through the roof, holding the UK to ransom - just like the gas supply :thumbdown:
  5. Always liked Kerf
  6. There, realistically are very few jobs for ageing & physically less than capable people within the industry. The industry is shrinking & just because an individual is better qualified & experienced will not keep them employed if they can't maintain the often intense workload. I see this as a ill timed waste of time & money. It may be a better time to teach companies to streamline & optimise operations, no burden them with further audits, fees & time consuming paperwork
  7. This will further marginalise those who are not interested in assesment & career building on an academic level (involvement with CPD etc) For those who want this, I'm sure it will be well constructed, for those that don't they will just see more unnecessary expenditure at a time of limited work & austerity. Who asked this to be created & why? It does have the appearance of another revenue creating scheme - but I can be a little cynical at times.......
  8. Is that a husky or a malamute Chris?
  9. All year here. Peanuts, wild bird seed, fat-balls & crumbs old cracker etc. We have had well over 30 sparrows at one time, starlings, coal-tit & blue-tit frequent. Long tailed tits sometimes. Not to mention the local sparrow hawk most days.....
  10. If in doubt, rig small & take your time. No fancy kit or magic, just throw a rope over a crotch & work away steadily & methodically
  11. Great vid. I am a fan of blowing stuff up
  12. Don't care for such things Andy. I would rather forget it happened & hope the company owner does not
  13. Awesome job:thumbup1:
  14. I cut my arm- major lasceration, whilst working for a company that; Said they had EL & PLI insurance - WRONG Had 1st Aid & Arial rescue tickets - WRONG My fault - I did not check
  15. T H White wrote such classics as "The Once and Future King" & "The Sword in the Stone" Selling chippers must be a side-line
  16. if they are employed to "climb" they are an employee in my opinion. If they are brought in to "wreck a tree out" they could be sub-contractors. It's all thin ice & I just covered them as employees, as the courts would side with them no doubt
  17. You looked that old to start with? Where was your paper round? Must have been brutal:001_tt2:
  18. see-saw
  19. 1 cut - at ground level. It's rubbish having to go back for a small piece. Saw in one hand, tree in other - walk to chipper
  20. You choked a sling though the LJ ? If the sling is rated, it should not be a problem. Have you a pic? The ropeman is not a good idea. Can be a ropecutter when you take a good drop
  21. I footlock, spike up, use srt or ddrt to access, then use ddrt or srwp to work the tree depending on what needs doing. What do I tick
  22. Daniel, it's not a good cut. The separation is too dynamic as opposed to a top& bottom cut correctly executed. I'm not going to comment further, apart from noting my dislike of your arguing methods. Beating down others who disagree is not discourse & your aggression makes it quite difficult to reply to some of your posts. Shame as you bring up some interesting points
  23. How did you calculate the SWL for the bollard?
  24. take it you can type better than walk then:lol: Enjoy mate:biggrin:
  25. Good Andy, but you are no.1. What you survived & battled through no could tree test you that way. I'm proud to know you Andy & call you my friend
