  1. NIce job. Why did you use a dog-tooth cut when you had to pull the stem over?
  2. I got one for a 660, but never for an older saw
  3. Can you not order a dual port muffler from a Stihl dealer?
  4. If your flipline is at full extension then what? Send the guy back to the truck for the bolt croppers? If you use a hitch & a pulley then you need a cuttable link for the same reason. If you cut the hitch then the pulley will run to the end of the line & remain captive.
  5. I was lucky to have a lesson form a guy called Eric Schatz - here he is teaching Dave [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJJUTu-plYQ]Eric Schatz Flipline Demo - YouTube[/ame]
  6. As been said lean back & relax. You should try & keep approx an arms length distance from the stem. Will seem weird at first. With the geckos try not to stamp you foot in, they have a narrow tip & usually seat in with little more than body weight. Hope this helps
  7. Plastic. Easier to hit in, less damage to the chain & if matching can be stacked
  8. Who (apart from those in the R2 steering group) actually wants this for the industry?
  9. Arborist - they have a real sense of humour here
  10. Work out how much money he can make you
  11. Try Treequip - he's out that way
  12. Arrived today. Many thanks
  13. Agreed. Shame you would need a class I HGV ticket to pull it
  14. Long sleves? How many washes are the Hi-Viz ones good for?
  15. You can't beat stupid either - only because you would not pay me if I did
  16. Outcuts a 440 & has better AV set-up. However does not feel as aggressive. Different saw to the 460/461 which was developed to fill a slightly different niche
  17. 660 is an amazing saw & has the best power to weight ratio of any commercial saw at the moment. Looking forward to seeing what Stihl have done with is. The 441 is a great success - hope it follows suit
  18. I'm sure there are some speculators & bankers who will bank-roll the import of virgin timber into the UK. Then, when we are a captive market hike the price through the roof, holding the UK to ransom - just like the gas supply :thumbdown:
  19. Always liked Kerf
  20. There, realistically are very few jobs for ageing & physically less than capable people within the industry. The industry is shrinking & just because an individual is better qualified & experienced will not keep them employed if they can't maintain the often intense workload. I see this as a ill timed waste of time & money. It may be a better time to teach companies to streamline & optimise operations, no burden them with further audits, fees & time consuming paperwork
  21. This will further marginalise those who are not interested in assesment & career building on an academic level (involvement with CPD etc) For those who want this, I'm sure it will be well constructed, for those that don't they will just see more unnecessary expenditure at a time of limited work & austerity. Who asked this to be created & why? It does have the appearance of another revenue creating scheme - but I can be a little cynical at times.......
  22. Is that a husky or a malamute Chris?
  23. All year here. Peanuts, wild bird seed, fat-balls & crumbs old cracker etc. We have had well over 30 sparrows at one time, starlings, coal-tit & blue-tit frequent. Long tailed tits sometimes. Not to mention the local sparrow hawk most days.....
  24. If in doubt, rig small & take your time. No fancy kit or magic, just throw a rope over a crotch & work away steadily & methodically
  25. Great vid. I am a fan of blowing stuff up
