  1. Great looking truck. I worked with dodge 50's for years. True workhorses. I would get a cover on that winch, plasma line does not like being exposed to UV - keeps all the road dirt & salt off it too
  2. Yeah sorry Mike. It's amazing what chaos can be created, when people don't follow basic instructions
  3. On a serious note, the details when applying for work often make the difference between work & not. I hope you get some good applicants Mike, seems like a good offer for the right person
  4. Hahaha - you can't fix stupid, but thankfully when your the boss you don't have to employ it
  5. I run & service 20plus Stihl machines. That is going to become increasingly difficult for me to continue in an efficient & a cost effective manner. The purchase of new machines is one issue, but the restriction in spares & sundries is insane. The simple fact is that our purchasing policy will change. This will effect what chains we purchase, trousers we wear & what machines we purchase. Our work cannot & will not be disrupted by the abstract policies of a single company.
  6. Hot air gun . Hair dryers not hot enough
  7. Good job Tim
  8. That tree is pretty humongous looking. Is the timber as hard as our maples here in the UK?
  9. I would be embarrassed to leave timber stacked in such a fashion & I have met quite a few forwarder driver who would not pick it up. Socks need to be pulled up or new employment found
  10. Stubs are too dangerous if you slip or fall. Either choke you 2nd attachment tight or utilise some form of cambium saver.
  11. Mistakes happen!
  12. I would expect any climber working for me to use one when wrecking trees - Why would you not? modern ones are light & flexible
  13. Where did you import your unicenders from?
  14. Less breakfast stops I recon
  15. Smooth job - good to watch:thumbup1:
  16. Or bigshot & no metal lethal projectile - just a sensible priced throwbag
  17. Note - not recommended on a rotten stump - it's not funny watching the tree go sideways and bending your 30in bar through 90deg
  18. fort Bragg aint that far away
  19. The cuts Peter noted will work on heavy leaners very well
  20. You can still climb upwards whilst crapping your pants
  21. If in doubt (& the tree allows) climb higher & cut smaller
  22. I would get some professional & impartial advice. Then, when you have a range of options decide, because 50% for nothing is alot, however she is due her fair share
  23. Looks well constructed. Good job
  24. If you were to contact PeteB I'm sure he could help you locate one
