  1. Love it. A project that is worth documenting for sure
  2. Replace the clutch?
  3. Used several chippers made this way. If the skills are available then, it is both viable financially & as a commercially usable product. Especially when constructing larger chippers
  4. Good job Allan
  5. Mine :thumbup1:"To gain that which is worth having, it may be necessary to lose everything else." Bernadette Devlin Because those who are selfless in there dedication, are often the best of us. (The politics & religious bits are insignificant in the real world)
  6. Paul is a great guy & a real innotive tree man. He runs a tree company as well as Ropetek, so is not always as punctual with his replies as some
  7. Try this; Contact | RopeTek
  8. Great looking vehicle. I spent some time, quite a few years ago living in vehicles & around those that did. I have to say that yours is for sure one of the better ones. The attention to detail & careful planning have created an amazingly user friendly looking space. Have you addressed how you are going to secure cupboards, shelves & there contents for your moving. "Tying down" is an art I never did master
  9. Selection depends on how you rig; Go big & catch half the tree - buy the Hobbs technical - GRCS - the back garden crane technical with the flexibility for 2 lines, take the big hits. lower rather than lift - Stein dual All 3 are exceptional & I would be happy with any of them
  10. Choice depends on the level of training you & those on site have. It is all well & good having an Arb-Aid or similar on site, however the knowledge of how to use & when to use the blood-stoppers for example is critical, as misuse can be very damaging. We use the Arb-Aid kits, Israeli military bandages (with the tourniquet) & cellox.
  11. I seem to remember it was done as a stunt, at a climbing demo
  12. BOOM!!!! Now collect that cheque
  13. good job. Do you usually work without spikes when wrecking trees?
  14. You want caulk boots https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=caulk+boots+for+sale&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=kUa&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=Atr8UbS3MYrP0AWhioGACA&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=665#bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&fp=bbcb557e36c06fa7&q=caulk+boots&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&sa=1&safe=off&tbm=isch
  15. Avon "skin so soft" works quite well for me
  16. Buy 2 bags ( different weights would be good ). This gives you the advantage of using the other end of your line if you get the 1st bag stuck
  17. I can understand your train of thought. I know some people use "screamers" & I can see there benefits in a tight spot where a load cannot run & deceleration is required (bottom of the page) Miscellaneous Tree Rigging Slings
  18. Looks good. How much would it increase weight by approximately ?
  19. Does the tracked base on the chipper tilt or articulate to allow access & working on side hills & uneven terrain?
  20. What do you do to cope? I'm drinking 4+ liters of water during the working day, slapping the suntan cream on & struggling. Due to corporate policy I have to wear type C clown trousers, so any helpful tips on surviving are welcome
  21. When they run over you whilst first climbing in Oz, they are big enough to cause poo to fly down your leg though
  22. Did we see you this morning with the red & white truck & matching tipper?
  23. Petzl UK, as alot of the Rope access guys use them. You will have to google suppliers as don't know one off the top of my head
  24. Typical of decline in sorbus. We have alot of them as street trees & we see that all too often, along with the absence of enough roots to keep them stable. They seem to fair better planted in grassland on public open space & parks.
  25. Take the chain & bar off too - loads of weight saved that way I'm glad people are getting more from there saws at last
