  1. It is correct, so if you keep adding pulleys & lines you will snap your anchor point. Think, we use this function to a positive use I.e when we set up mechanical advantage with a 5 to 1 pulley system to pull a tree over. Make sense?
  2. If one ton is suspended from the pulley, an equivilant force is acting on the fixed point to keep it motionless. So you are correct - a one ton load on either leg will place a load of 2 tons onthe pulley - doubling it
  3. Honey Brothers did, but I cannot see it now. Buxtons do I think
  4. Huge pick.
  5. I do tree work - simples.
  6. Nice job as usual Reg I do have a couple of questions; You have a great talent for landing logs flat. Do you work instinctively or work length ratios & angles? Secondly, you seem to work after dark on quite a few occasions. Is this cultural in Canada as in the UK, excluding storm work, I only put the head torch on a few times a year & seldom for felling or climbing.
  7. They are athletes for sure. Perhaps misguided but talented all the same
  8. Must be something to do with my iPad's settings Jim as it will not play through the app either.
  9. Hi Reg. Would it be a lot of trouble to make the vid playable on mobile devices etc? I cannot view it on the iPad
  10. A wide face cut will keep it closer to the stem
  11. Good job Reg, It's a great tool to have in the box indeed. I try & place the back-cut level with the front cut - less vertical wood to split in the hinge (you can retain a bigger hinge ), less chance of over cutting & having your saw taken with the piece & easier to see & judge such a fine hinge - hope that all makes sense
  12. Good job & I'm glad it went well
  13. Nice, but I prefer the look of the new Rangers

  15. Nice Reg - Have a good Christmas
  16. Great pic Mario - gotta head back to Oregon/Nor Cal again this year
  17. If your not prepared to be reasonable financially - just don't do it & enjoy the hols Double time seems sensible for xmas/bank hols
  18. Some decent sized trees there Jim - good job
  19. You can damage them through abuse - what can't be? Great bit of kit IMO
  20. I use both powered & silky pole saws when needed. "I'm sorry i don't have the purity of ethics to climb out further over those those phone lines, I'll just cut the branch from here, using less effort & taking less time" " Joking aside, every tool has it's place - it's choosing the time & place to optimise it's use that is the hard part.
  21. Is that a nimrod? Makes a change for sure
  22. Different Gord If I remember correctly. Bloody big tree
  23. Can see why you did not put that in the " Rate my hinge " thread
  24. It is a cut of convenience for me. I am not skilled enough to use it in a critical situation, despite my increased success with the cut.
  25. How often do you achieve 4" lift with wedges?
