  1. Good job Josh:)
  2. Only a few bits of crust, so 90% sawdust. I quite often pick through it between meals
  3. You inspired me to have my quarterly clean out David. Guess I needed it
  4. That is deffo an office beard Dave - no pie or sawdust residue & looks manicured. [ame] [/ame]
  5. I met hotshot & smoke jumpers in the US. They were serious professionals & this is such a tragic loss of the people who are willing to put themselves on the line, to save & help others
  6. You will get some good gains doing this to a 200t. You must richen up the High jet though, as you will run the saw lean otherwise. Just keep an eye on the plug colour
  7. Common sense ain't that common
  8. Cool - why the unusual cuts on the stem?
  9. Don't you need to cuddle up to a unicender or something then
  10. Good job. If you clean all those stubs off you will find that the ropes run better (got snagged at 4.30ish) & it is much safer as you can fall & land on one all too easily.
  11. I simply pointed out that it does not provide control. It does however help to prevent splitting with free grained species such as euc, ash, willow etc with head leaners. Euc hinges well, but does have a tendancy to split if you put too much load on the hinge wood.
  12. The point of a dog tooth cut is to prevent splitting not control as you have to guess on required hinge size
  13. It is a LOLER fail - the device will not function as designed good idea - I have used tape before, but that seems like an improvement.
  14. If it goes the wrong way, your gonna be surprised
  15. Island - on my own............... I choose my Mrs - better company, more fulfilling & sounds better ( even on a bad day) than a noisy crappy chainsaw
  16. Good job. Nice to see someone climbing right up the tree & dismantling it in manageable sized bits. A good lesson for up & coming climbers.
  17. Those firs look really dusty trees to cut - the bark no doubt. Nice job Reg - did it have enough fibre strength to hold a decent hinge?
  18. The smaller & lighter the chain, the easier it is to damage. Matching the chain to the powerhead is more important IMO
  19. Spot on. " I don't top trees or wear spikes on a prune" yet will put a couple of tonnes on a transit & risk it. I'm not risk adverse, however I hate giving the government money in fines & sit at home not earning when they impound my vehicle
  20. Attach winch & pull the butt. Looks like you can tear it apart. Fun & less chance of getting squished!
  21. 3ft on 3/8th works fine - just don't expect to chase the cut
  22. Great step by step record of a serious job Reg & thanks for sharing. The vertical feet climbed sounds almost as daunting as the trees. Do you use normal rigging lines for tensioning the trees, or dedicated lower stretch lines?
  23. Nice control over a big chunk of timber. Good job Benn
  24. I have got better things to do, than waste energy on a few spike holes. I will sit & enjoy spring watch & let the tree nazis rant at the screen
