  1. I recently asked at the check in with Emirates, they told me that a chainsaw will not be allowed on a plane, new or second hand. The reason she gave me was due to the fuel. Which is lame cause I want to take my 357 back to Aus with me. Looking at posting, it'll be about £120. So will be keenly checking this topic. 😊
  2. As Steve said, I don't think you need to justify yourself. Looks great and would love to try it out. As you mentioned people to get in contact with Trevor at Treegear, here in Australia, is probably a good place to start this side of the world, they're always getting the best gear in. If you want his email address just let me know. 😉
  3. Hitchclimber rapide is definitely worth the cash. I have a friend that climbs with the pinto, which can be used on vt also due to it's rated bridge.
  4. You can get a nasty bite from one, which could get infected, so I'm told, but as Peter said, I think I would shite myself if one where to come out and walk over me!
  5. Just realised how retarded I was being, MEWP! We do have a Nifty cherry picker, and it could've got to the tree, but where is the fun in that? 😉
  6. Thanks everyone for the advise, next time I will focus more attention on the tips. As you say it is rather "lion tailed"! 😔 What is a MEWP? As to the time, it just got away from me, worked through lunch and finished bang on time to be heading back to the yard, to many breaks for a think and a drink, but places to certainly improve. The boss seemed to think it was a green huntsmen? Still have not seen a beast of a huntsmen, and I've been here 18months now! 😕 I'm sure my day will come, and I hope I've packed clean pants!!
  7. Good evening all, Hoping to get some feedback on today's crown thinning on a Brush Box (Lophostemon confertus). I've only just started climbing again, and these Australia trees are something else to our native trees of the mother land. I feel I could've spent more time in it, but I was already at it too long, so with the pictures... Also for your viewing pleasure found a cavity on my way down, in the branch union, took a video to show the boss to see how structurally sound the limb would be, and got this surprise. Glad I didn't poke my finger too far into this, Also any help identifying these beetles would be a big help Thank you in advance Dan
  8. There's training for trees, think there is one on Bribie Island? I think that's what Rob said, he's a pretty sound guy! 😉 http://trainingfortrees.com.au/
  9. "The spotty's on 457's at the moment, best option is to board a leaking wooden boat at Indonesia head towards the Aussie coast" Haha too true!
  10. Morning Mike, Hopefully I can help a little. I'm currently here in Aus, in the process of getting sponsored, or was until some unmentionable stuck his oar in to mess it up, luckily I've still got time before my working holiday visa is up. Anyway, to the point; you need at least three years experience in the job or to be level III arboriculture/horticulture. Your family can join you on the visa, as my partner would as defacto, which is great for them as they are free to do what they want, we would be stuck with the same company, possible same rate for the 4yrs! But you can then able for residency when you've been here for 2yrs, a little loop hole I'm thinking?! 😉 Also at the start of the new financial year, beginning of July, companies need to show that they've tried to employ Aussies for the position before us foreigners! So that's going make it harder for both of us! 😔 So the visa you'd be looking at is the 457, that's for the work you'll be expecting, there is a 475, which is regional but I think that'd be awful for your family, some of these rural areas are pretty isolated! Come for a month, just yourself and see what you can get, maybe up sell yourself first before coming over, a get an old boss to sign you off for a few things? Cause if you do get a sponsorship, you can get flights payed for by the company, as long as its negotiated before hand! 😉 Hope this helps? Pretty epic first ever post!! 😜 Haha
