  1. Update... Had a visit from the dog warden this morning, he inspected the dog and its living arrangements and pronounced it was unfit for purpose.. said it needed to be on a stronger chain... so a stronger chain was got and now its tied to the end of that.... Said if anyone produced evidence the dog has been seen down the track he'd have to come and take it away.. fair enough I says... Now heres the thing, my dog and another dog were seen in the vicinity of the attack on the sheep but thats all thats known to date.. within minutes of the attack, I went to collect the dog.. now, not a drop of blood was on my dog and none on the other dog too, A white mastiff type dog..... Considering three sheep were killed and another survived but was tore up you'd imagine blood to be evident on their snouts at least but no, not a drop... I'm wondering if some local was out takin his dogs for a walk, his dogs attacked the sheep and off he fled, an our dogs went looking at the commotion just in time to be spotted in the area... Or, the woman who owns the land, she's got a dozen dogs one of which is a doberman and it might be hers thats killed the sheep.... then seein our dogs turn up decides to save some embarrassment for herself and blame our dogs for the crime.... With no blood on the dogs, its just a bit of a puzzler..... the last attack involving my nethews dog his dog was covered in blood... Odd
  2. Not that I know of, you're not supposed to disturb nesting birds though. find one in the hedge and leave it be...
  3. Good should go some way to filling all the pot holes in these parts.. what with the rain through the winter I've never seen as many, only the other day I was thinking they should of stuck to cobbles...
  4. Blow it all in Cheshire I suspect...
  5. Been a bit of day all things considered, started off with a phone call saying the dog had killed a sheep on the next field.,. went to collect it. my nephew's comin over as I put the collar on.. said he was gettin his shotgun and he was gonna kill it.... Told him he isn't and how does he know its our dog that did it, said a woman had come running down the track to tell him a sheep dog and another dog had killed some sheep... As he's tellin me all this I have the owner's daughter shouting obscenities in my ear about dogs not being chained up when they should be and how we're not fit to have a dog amongst other accusations she's been nursing for some time.... I took the dog, locked it in the shed and went off to do a few jobs why I worked out what to do... Found myself doin the job I'd been putting off on account I'd smashed two of this customers windows in the past month or so, managed to finish that without further incidence.. then the other job I'd been putting off, a paddock near the window job.. Turns out it now looks like a hayfield and she's had half a ton of stone dropped off and spread alongside some of the grass verges.... Look, any of that crap gets hit with this strimmer an it smashes any of those car windows and its tough, I've paid out enough money for windows round these parts and I ain't payin out any more.... Things went better after that but I didn't fancy the trip back home, half expecting to get back and find a kicked in shed door, and a dead dog lyin on the shed floor.. Dog was still there, no kicked in door all seems unusually quiet... for how long thats gonna last livin in this madhouse is anyone's guess..
  6. Apparently English longbows were made of all sorts of wood, not just Yew.. Shards of the Dark Age: A Few Points on English Longbows
  7. Can't speak for other makes but I have two sets of Stihl hedgers, one single sided one double sided.. had no complaints about either..
  8. Hows that Jo Bue workin out, been thinking of getting one or something similar..
  9. Can't see the sense of trying to sound busy, ask em when they want it doin, if you can fit em in do it tomorrow... The lasting opinion of you by a customer will be the job you did, not when you started it... er, with the proviso that you've agreed a price and they want it doin that is...
  10. Well Mr clever clogs, I couldn't beat a chipper being left.. on the other hand I can tell you a story about an in law who left a child....does that make more sense now?...
  11. Can't beat a chipper but my sister in law once left her child outside ASDA some years back. got home couldn't think what was missing for five minutes.... As to staff leaving stuff, I see it like this, you hired the man, you take responsibility for his cock ups... I told one lad not to leave the stihl strimmer out of his sight, next thing me an him were in the back garden havin a drink of coffee, asked him were the strimmer was and he said in the front... went to get it half expecting it to be gone, and it was gone... Didn't know whether to thump him, or get him to thump me..... I should of known better...
  12. Got home made a cup of tea, answered phone... "what you bloody like, you've left your mower in ma back garden"... Done this sort of thing as long as I can remember...
  13. Got one similar from an electronics shop a year or two back.. Use mine to help remove the occasional splinter..
  14. Yea, just clicked on your link, its the same vid I watched some time back... You should sub to him he's a fountain of knowledge as well as enthusiastic.. August Hunikie posts the occasional comment on his vids..
  15. hahah, subbed to him a month or so ago, after watchin a vid of him takin down a dangerous leaner... Brighter than you'd think aswell... not sure if that comes across as a compliment but its meant to be, I like him..
  16. you could, if you've a mind to make some wooden gizmo's to hold it in position. somethin light and easy to take off... wedge em in so to speak... was thinking of doin the same for my Eliet,, that has loosened off on occasion... even fell over once. luckily didn't roll off the trailer.....

  18. Did a couple of privet hedges today, its no fun having them petrol hedgers raised above the shoulders for an hour I can tell you, Chinese torture springs to mind.. then theres the petrol fumes blowin in your face.. all I was thinkin about was those battery operated Hedgers, and strimmers and a little top saw to finish off with.. Takes a bit of doin though to throw two grand at somethin your not entirely sure about..
  19. Seems to me that some people are confusing two issues,, One might be called in another age, the power of prayer... My point is about personality types... A man set on a successful path to achieve his ambition, might employ positive thinking as he heads towards his goal.. he might spend all day visualizing his success... he might even pray for success, who knows!!... He might do a lot of things that require him to be stubborn, pig headed and determined to succeed.... But its not something he thinks much about because for him its what makes him the man that he is.. he's born that way... Now it seems to me, the positive thinking crowd are just trying to emulate in some way the personality of those who have achieved success... Determined, I'll be determined from now on. They think positive, must be more positive.. They visualize a goal, I'll set a goal and spend time thinking on it.. Knock-backs are opportunities to learn from, if I come unstuck, I wont be miserable... and on it goes, ect ect ect..... My point is you're better off being yourself and doing things your own way than you are attempting to emulate the mindset of someone you admire.... In a nutshell, be yourself. and damn the consequences.. On the subject of parking places, went to McDonalds today reversed into place, visualizing where the wheels might align with the whites lines, only to have the tow bar crash into the grass banking taking out a chunk of dirt an grass, I sneaked out again later but no one seemed to notice the damage I'd done....
  20. Alan Benet's the lady in the van... sounds just like her..
  21. Well thanks Cesservices always good to know I'm not banging my head against a brick wall...
  22. So, the opposite to "the power of positive thinking" worked in your case?.. Came to do a job, got shafted, you got mad and somehow all that negative energy got you some compen and another job next door!!!!.. Who said positive thinking worked?...
  23. Don't get me wrong, I didn't say there was anything wrong with being enthusiastic or positive.. I think thats a good thing, and yes it does rub off on people.. My point was it aught be genuine and not contrived... No sitting at home trying to change your personality, it ain't gonna happen.... In some ways I see your personality as not being to different than Stefans, only more level headed and less manic...
  24. Nothin wrong with a bit of rage here an there, I dare say if you'd of been braver you'd of told him were to stick his job... a curse on all your houses... an all that...
