  1. Less is more at lunch time for me... Nothing worse than stuffin yourself, an ten minutes later you need an afternoon nap...
  2. You should have a thread devoted to its build, love to read about the ups and downs of you doin it..
  3. I was thinking more as an extra safety precaution as much as wear an tear, on the body or tree LOL.. Anyway, this got me thinking this afternoon, about pulley savers.. hows about a lightweight pulley about six inches across, that you can wrap a rope round twice, with a cam system that works one way... On the way up it free wheels, on the way down it catches on a cam (I think thats what they're called) an the friction of the doubled rope comes into play.. The branch Richard was hanging off was commented on in the comments section, he said its a branch he uses a lot and he has total trust in its ability to hold his weight..
  4. you should watch this in regards pulley savers... [ame] [/ame]
  5. I'm nearly as tempted to get your set up just for the strimmer as much s the chainsaw.. one thought about those strimmers though is the head, can you get replacement heads on em?... I'd hate to think you had to buy a new strimmer everytime the head wore itself out...
  6. Yea, Silky I will get one and a few other battery operated implements I think.. Well a pole saw maybe or maybe a strimmer.. If I'm gonna pay all that for a battery, it'd better earn its keep on more than a chainsaw..
  7. I was in my local Stihl dealers this weekend, told him I wanted one of those battery operated chainsaws... You want a top saw he said, yes for cutting branches I says.. Why do you want one of those?.. I don't like attracting attention at the top of a tree and I've a mates tree to do, big one as well... How much are they I said, about 350, then you have to buy a battery... What do you mean?. you need a battery to go with the saw and those are 150... then theres the charger as well, you'll need one of those too... And just how much is all that added together?. About 500 quid give or take a few quid.. Listen, I'll have one later in the year when I've a bit more money knockin about.... I walked out with one new steal carabiner an ma tale between my legs
  8. A good read.. a story well told, not to long, and engaging from start to finish.. balanced as well, none of the propaganda BS about German soldiers all being Nazi fanatics... Just ordinary fella's looking to get through the war...
  9. hahaha, ain't the old fella got a pair of ladders for you..
  10. Very funny... For your information a tampon like plug was used in surgery a long time before a surgeon thought to use them on women.....
  11. Well its a good job I'm not in your local talking about your trailer that got nicked is it. I mean, you'd have a problem wouldn't you?...
  12. Keep the windows open for a month...
  13. They're speculations not accusations... something thats safe to do as he's got his trailer back... And why would a pub make me think twice about speculating on somethin?...
  14. A ready substitute might be to have a few Tampons in your med kit... They're designed to soak up blood after all...
  15. Is this subcontract work for the council, or working directly for the council?.. Might be the fella subbing for the council has decided to cut corners now he has the job..
  16. What you talking about?... the animals did walk in two by two... it says so in the bible....
  17. Well I thought the joke in poor taste.... Not to mention, Billy Graham would've told the ten year old girl to pray like her life depended on it as he kicked her out the plane..
  18. Never watched mad max as I hated someone who raved about how good it was..put me off the film' Watched it years later and found it not a bad film... I can see the day that a mad max world does come to pass though, oil can't last forever...
  19. As a rhetorical question it was addressed to any reader including you... And I'm at a loss why no one else has mussed on the missing trailer in the night detective story.... Perhaps insurance scam has hit a nerve with some of our members LOL...
  20. So thieves take stolen property back these days LOL..... If your asking me, someone took it with the intention of getting it back before Arbwork noticed it had gone missing... A local with a tractor... I'd like to know if any evidence might be found inside the trailer as to what use it was put to... moving bales of hay, haylage?..
  21. OK this is all getting a little to mysterious... I have two possibilities circulating in my mind at present... One is an insurance job, and someone got cold feet, thus the trailers return... Second, its someone Arbwork knows who nicked it/had it nicked and because of all the kerfuffle has also got cold feet.. more than likely been stored in some nearby barn as well.... If it was some stranger who nicked it they'd off dropped it off in the middle of some road and not took the trouble of bringing it back to the owner.... Then again, theres always the chance someone borrowed it thinking arbwork wouldn't find out, got found out(arbwork thought it was stolen), they waited for it to quieten down to return said trailer.... In a word, I don't think it was ever nicked...
  22. I've a blackbird and wren set up shop in my work shed.. the wren choosing its nest on top of a very expensive sleeping bag I had hung out... I've to creep in an out till they're gone now.. Oh an theres a pile of leaves on the floor, not sure whats under there but I didn't put em there, someone said it might be a hedgehog nest...
  23. As I work on my own for the most part, I can only drive one vehicle at once.. The Hilux went, the Sprinter MWB took its place... then the transit pickup... I found I worked round problems with these vans that the pickup had no problem with. I don't go on wet grass now, I don't even look forward to muddy ground anymore.. I can get more crap in the Tranny pickup truck than I ever could in the Hilux.. I miss driving round in the Hilux with its off road wheels and raised body, but I don't miss paying for its diesel.. One problem unique to the pickup and tranny pickup is how easy it is for thieving scum to nick you gear off the back...
  24. I suspect the real reason most have pickups is Micks last point, they look cool.. Like cloths that make you look good, pickups make you feel good.... I'll bet most who need a pickup, would be better off with a transit tipper...
