  1. First snow of the year....hope its the last...
  2. Sounds like a great night, always fancied going to one of those book promotions...
  3. Your greed or theirs?......:thumbup1:
  4. Kevinjohnsonmbe "As the Roman Emperor says"...... LOL'ssssssss
  5. I've done it more than once if I thought it helped.. its not like the fellas there every day is it... I used to pay my friends son a day rate for helping out on my gardening round, then share the profit on tree work.. 60/40.. just to keep the lad from making my life a misery by sulking all day... Sometimes I even paid him more than I was getting, my aim to finish a job, get it out the way, be done with it... Yes, I'll never be a millionaire, but I didn't start out to be that anyway.. as long as I can get by I'm OK... I'm also OK with getting less than my help if it means a decent nights sleep..
  6. Its his friend... does that count for nothing?..
  7. Hows about a percentage solution that both of you can agree on when you need his help.. Say 55/45 split on profit.. If that could be arranged, he might see it as working for himself and not working to fill your pockets... For me, the fact that he's there when you need him is worth something.. then theres the devil you know...
  8. I don't want to comment on the value of his work, but it might be an idea to take stock of the value of his company... Having someone who doesn't get on your nerves is worth all the tea in China..
  9. been tidying up, getting ready to start the year... must slow down on the rollups, can't spade three loads of crap before I need a rest.. Also been thinking of changing my set up as well, been wondering about getting a trailer just like Mikes.. maybe a bit smaller, but worried it'll end up like my other trailers, sat around doing nothing for the most part...
  10. who loaded that van?......
  11. You should fashion a lock box of some sort, I had some stuff nicked off the back of my van and I was only a few feet away at the time.... What you need is a box to cover the area where your tools are in the pic, something you can take off when you need more room for different jobs..so don't make anything to heavy... something simple yet effective.. I wouldn't be getting anything fabricated by a "pro", it'll end up costing more than the van...
  12. Petzl Pretzl......haha I never noticed that, I always say Pr-etzl:thumbup1:
  13. As a pretzl fan, I'm getting tired of people dogging on their products.. most everything I've got climbing related is Pretzl.. I wouldn't touch anything else with a barge pole....
  14. You got four days dreaming about what you gonna get..... thats some good times betwixt now and then... :thumbup1:

funny thing is I've spent the evening looking at different trailer options myself... I've come to the conclusion that what I need is a trailer that weighs 300KG but carries two tonnes... High caged sides, and a tipping ability.... A trailer made out of Titanium.... errrrm... Thats the trouble with trailers, you never just get it right, always a compromise to be made..
  16. Does an Eliet Pro IV get you into the Wee chipper club?... the original version?.. Bought it years ago, used it a time or two an that was it.. I could get it loaded onto the trailer in the morning, but somehow couldn't manage to load it back on the trailer at the end of the day... Pimped up ma trailer during the winter, fitted a boat winch on it to drag the damn thing up.. No more Woodchipper falling off the trailer cause I hadn't the strength to keep hold of it after a hard days work LOL's... Anyways, been using it today on a small job.. surprised how effective it was to be honest... Anyways, does it count as a Wee Chipper?.......
  17. If you can get a free upgrade whats anyone doing with an older version?..... Not to mention, anyone with any sense would be checking one of those before they start a job and at the end of the day....
  18. Ask the fella whats he's willing to pay.. Might turn out he's a decent type and actually offer you more than you thought to ask..

Sounds like you have it tied up, get a trailer test done as soon as you can.. Another option maybe buy a bigger truck... trailers can be nightmare trying to park up with em...

Whats your set up at the moment?... might be better if we know what we're working with...
  22. Sounds to me like Stefan is a driven man..something tells me he's done well or gonna do well in life... Its not advice for me though, I'm a work life balance sort.. no need to break your back for a tenner...

Anything under 750 KG.. bear in mind the 750 includes the weight of the tailor. And if you get a test done, you then have to consider the vehicle's train weight.. No good getting a massive trailor and only being able to stick a sack of spuds in it...
  24. Funnily enough, thats on my to do list as well, re-ply the back of the van.. I'll get round to it when I near fall through it though if past maintenance schedule's anything to go by..
  25. Nicely put... nothing like a good read!!!... not to mention a heads up to some of us tight fisted gits....
