  1. Benedmonds has mucked up with his question.. everyone's confused about whats being got at... but I think I have it now.... "Yes but I would expect to call a cab.." benedmonds. Seems because he himself would feel obliged deal with his own problems, he wants to know why those that work for him can't do the same...
  2. Heres what I think, in general that is.. If you employ someone for a day or week or any length of time, you've committed to a responsibility.. in part your gambling on a risk assessment of your staff, so if that risk ends up costing time money or any number of other variables then its a risk you yourself took on.. Which could mean, whether its a taxi home, everyone downing tools or any other contingency its down to you to do the right thing... Now considering you employ so many people, I'd be googling things like work place ethics.. case law studies. How to keep a work force happy.. That sort of thing.. whats the saying, you be good to your workers, an they'll be good to you...
  3. Stubbs, hope your all right fella, can't be easy worrying yourself sick in situations like this... Best to keep your chin up fella, in a day or two everything will seem OK again, I'm sure...
  4. Don't feed the trolls.. hahah the irony LOL....
  5. Hypothetical..ish question - If you have a member of staff or free lancer who has to leave a job for an emergency at home that is about an hour away. They are in a team of 3 and the job could go on without them. What would you expect the team to do?........................................................................ See the thing is this isn't exactly clear is it?... but reading on it seems what you really want to know is, how does one tell if someone is lying or exaggerating a claim. how to know what constitutes a real emergency?... Well I suppose you might ask whats gone on an determine for yourself if its an emergency or not.. If you determine that it is an actual emergency then you get em home hospital or where ever ASAP... If you think its not an emergency, but they do, then sure let em make their own way home. But if its an emergency and all you can do is think about your own inconvenience, then I suggest a lobotomy .... Now, theres some serious discussion there and a bit of fun thrown in for effect, just in case the troll hunters get all tied in knots....they to should get a lobotomy...
  6. ex girlfriends sister asked for dildo rail.. then there was the time a woman shouted across the pub if I'd come round Monday an trim her bush.. hahah, took me a while to get why everyone in the pub was sniggerin...
  7. Yea, I just read that an utubed that Zillon, fella had it on a lanyard... I was thinking though that a prussics a prussics a prussic. So a zigzag should have no trouble being used in SRT with somethin else slowin you down on a descent... I know theres some scare mongering out there about the Zigzag and I was wondering if people are scarred of the using the Zigzag for unfounded reasons... maybe even the makers are scarred of endorsing its use on SRT for the same reasons... You know, someone reports a crack in one of the links using it in SRT and word gets out that they ain't safe to use.. anyway, just my thoughts on the subject...
  8. How is somethin trolling when its meant to be funny ?... And, even if it was trolling, which is sort of true in a way, its no different than someone bleating about costs when an employee might cost an employer money in case of an emergency situation.... Surely this thread itself is a troll thread... or am I the only one who see's that?.... somehow I doubt it..
  9. hahahah I'd love to hear you fell out a tree and broke an arm, then your employees refused to drive you to the hospital on account of them not wantin to lose a days wage... "come on lads, drive me to the hospital", listen MF, we saw what you posted on that tree forum you go on, now get a taxi or we'll break you're other flippin arm.. hahaha
  10. I have a zigzag only got it in November, and only used it climbing a coupla tree's round our place.. Now after hearing its not recommended to use on SRT I wondered why that might be, not even knowing what SRT even meant at the time.. then I came across a climber on utube pointing out the dangers of SRT using one friction hitch... burn through the rope an all that, Oh so thats what it is I thought... Now I don't know but surely somethin made of metal isn't gonna suffer the same friction as two ropes moving with weight on it?.. I fancy trying it out to see how it works, a few small descents from 20ft or so, see if the rope or Zig Zag heats up any.... Not that I intend using a zigzag like that at all, I'm still gettin to grips with climbing a rope to be honest...so no heroics from me at the mo....
  11. was gonna say what most said, genuine emergency get em home.. Then I remembered a mate of mine workin for me on a tree job.. The chainsaw slipped off the rope and dropped on his hands, must of bin a two foot drop.. I never heard as much screaming in all my life, being up the tree I imagined the thing has severed a limb hahahah... Of course he insisted I take him to hospital for stitches, wouldn't show me the wound, sort of screaming and wailing about blood loss an time being wasted.. I could of kicked him when he calmed down half way to the hospital, cut myself worse havin a shave... Then there was the phone calls being made, that he'd sliced himself up with a chainsaw to all his mates and girlfriend on the way to hospital.. I think he liked the idea of suffering a chainsaw wound LOL.. An to think, all that drama for a plaster hahahah...
  12. How the hell does someone take out money from an employee for damaged equipment?... Its people like that that give good employers a bad rep.... scumbags...
  13. I can't make sense of it either, least not till you give a fuller account of what your doin now against what you did before... But in general I suspect it works both ways... how many gardeners would give their right arms to be in another industry?... I suspect many...
  14. who asked you to chip in potato face?... hahahahahah,, just kiddin lol
  15. the idea is to climb it for the fun of it, I'm not even sure he wants to get rid of the ivy.. Its why Isaid just get in it and go for it.. like you said, use to ivy to your advantage and then climb the rest freestyle.. apart from being scarred it can't be that hard can it?...
  16. Yea, plenty places I'd like to move to, but only one place I ain't moving from.
  17. I've one exactly like it, cleaned it up last year now waiting on a use for it.. I mean I have a use, but I prefer my Fiskars to that old lump LOL..
  18. Am I a climber? err, thats debatable.. Do the odd tree, though never roped up one yet... though I have gone to the trouble of buyin a few odds and sods to do a bigger tree, one of my customers wants a coupla of tree's in her garden doin this spring.. So I thought, what the heck, I'm being paid a few hundred for doin em so might as well get meself some climbing tackle.. Got a zigzag, already had some rope and bought a harnes just last week. I've bin practicing haulin myself up an down a tree on our place, bloody hard work though... Which brings me to why I said you should lose a bit of weight.. I found it easier to pull myself up the rope after a day or two of not stuffin myself.. Oh by the way, only ever climbed trees freestyle, though a bit dodgy, easier in that nothin gets in the way... ropes snagging on stuff, that sort of thing.. does that qualify me as a climber? hahah
  19. wait on a nice day and have a stab at it, I suspect the key to be determination. No rope, nothin... Just get in an tell yourself you ain't comin down till you've reached the top..Oh, I don't know if your slightly overweight, but if you are, get on a diet till you've lost a few pounds. Amazing how much easier these things are when you ain't dragging up an extra kilo you can do without..
  20. "Just moving off the moors would be a start"...to flee this melancholy, sodden drenched, rain lashed Moor, to escape this prison fowl called home... Oh Cathy, Cathy, call me to the sunless sea... haha....... Mathew, stop bitching, you don't know when you got it good, I'd love to live on some bleak moor in the middle of nowhere
  21. Err we live in Britain its known for its weather.. then again, look on the plus side, who else in the world can genuinely look forward to summers like we do?.. Now, if only this freezing wind would calm down, its blowin all the heat out the house.. LOL, nothin like us Britishers complainin about the weather...
  22. I'm still amazed people climb tree's in the rain, never would of thought till I joined this forum.. I mean, I do the occasional tree myself, nothin fancy or owt just medium size stuff. An I can tell you, any sign of rain an I'm off home.. I ain't slippin an breakin my neck for a days wage for no one....
  23. change your attitude to rain, I love the rain myself... Nothin better than idling all day while it pours down outside... here watch this fellla explain how to hike in the rain.... [ame] [/ame]
  24. Japanese is that how you spell it?.... "Japanese", show some respect people...its not 1974 anymore... Now, I like the LR, not that I've ever owned one, but they do look nice as they pass down the road.. and from what I gather they come in handy for towing stuff. Apart from looking good and being able to tow stuff there isn't much else going for them. Cost too much, comfort level next to none existent and apparently break down every third key turn... Nope, not for me.. I'll stick to ma van an be done.. Still, sad to see production go to India, though if LR had any sense, they'd of moved production to China years ago... muppets..
