  1. How can a glass of milk work better than anything else?.... Were any other blind tests conducted?.. maybe just being asked to drink milk after a match brought on a placebo effect.. Milk might be good for you, but is it any better than a glass of wine... or beer if you like that, to sooth aches and pains?... I doubt it.... Placebo..
  2. Yea, I've built my own lanyard using a cheap petzl pulley.. seems to work OK.. I was gonna get one of those Zigzag grillons to go with my Zigzag mechanical prussic.. But hey, £12, verses hundred quid or more.... why bother...
  3. Errm, I googled Stien lanyards/toolstrops and saw a bungee one.. making me believe thats what he already had.... But on further investigation, I see they do a few different kinds....
  4. So, no answer to the problem of wind blowing lanyards about then?... have we a cure for that?... I'm sure that was the reason for the thread...
  5. If I had to guess who's nicked it, I'd go local.. Little Hulton's a bit of a rough area... wouldn't be surprised if those who nicked it don't even know what it is...
  6. Why do you use a roller mower?.. Heavy lumps that they are, better off using a normal mower, lighter and no need to faff about with stripes... If any of my customers wants stripes I tell em to buy some paint and paint em on the grass..
  7. Alert, PC police in the vicinity...
  8. good one Oldwoodcutter.. reminds me of the old pig farmer round these parts, back of his farm shop was a hole covered by two big pieces of ply.. flies everywhere.. Sneaked over as a kid and lifted one of the boards... If it wasn't the smell that gave it away it surely was the sight, dozens of dead pigs piled on top of each other... looked like something out of Belsen... Yea, this pig farmer was a bit of a character as well, the sort to throw a young lad into a hole full of dead pigs.. I soon got out of there, sneaked out like my life depended on it LOL...
  9. a good thick chain should stop it blowin in the wind... seriously, its a piece of rope, its gonna blow about in the wind is it not?.. Stein or otherwise...
  10. I'll try that... I'm sick of em...
  11. OK my advice for whats it s worth... don't include footage of a tree being chopped.. have a scene of some local farmer dragging an old tree into the yard on a 1950's tractor, giving the impression your chopping wood that would of been wasted anyway...have the fella shouting over something about another one blowing over in the night.. Then get it looking homely, you and the wife working together to get things done... You bent over the log splitter the wife arriving with a brew and biscuits, switch it in a later scene showing the wife working while you arrive with tea and biscuits.... Have some voice over about your business while the vids running and don't forget to include the sound of children, to make it feel like a real family run affair...
  12. Do they?... electric rat traps that is.. I need to get one for the mice then, sick of them things... I bought six mousetraps an all they did is take the food and run... Flippers they are, can't use the word I want to use lol... Now, this thread has bin the best one for sure for a good while, had a lot of fun reading it... And though my worse job can't compare to most on here, I do have a very boring job I once did... Worked at a paper mill years back, and volunteered for overtime, two twelve hour shifts over the weekend, doin nights... I found myself stood at one end of a conveyor belt loading up reams of paper onto a conveyor belt. A pallet of paper was hauled in front of the conveyor and two of us peeled a reams of fifty sheets onto the said conveyor... stood in one spot for near on twelve solid hours Saturday night and Sunday night... The worse of it was I'd run out of anecdotes after an hour or so, and spent the rest of the night watching the minute hand on the clock move painfully forward.... Even now I cringe when I think of it.... tick,,,,,,tock,,,,,,,,,,,tick,,,,,,,,,,,,,tock, all night long...
  13. had a run in with one of the relatives yesterday, set off to walk the dog this morning, seen a police van outside her house... Oh, dear... the dog went for a very , very, very long walk..
  14. Obviously an educated guess, but it might be something to keep the box rigid on the axle..
  15. I hope your keeping the same colour scheme, I was in a forum once and the manager changed the colours from brown to electric blue, it didn't go down well...
  16. Well I can't speak for avenues LOL, not knowing what that means. But I certainly think they're a good idea if your careful with how you use em... That is to say if you have used them, not that I have... Just watched a vid of one mon traversing a tree throwing a version of this thing... I don't know about him, but I was on the edge of my seat watching him... I'm sure some tree climbers like to film stuff just to scare the hell out the viewer.....
  17. Funny, last time I went there I'm sure they offered me three different options.. now, if I could be bothered I'd take a look at my insurance policy and see if I'm not imagining things..
  18. Looks like the Iron Giant
  19. I know what its designed for, I invented/came to the same conclusion in my shed today... Your up a tree and you need to get to that branch, if only I had a hook to throw over that branch... I'm not sure its something you'd use that often, but its something thats there if you need it...
  20. funny thing is, I was looking at one of those industrial fall arresters I have in my shed today, and I was thinking. If I take that giant carabiner off and attach some rope I could fling it onto a branch and make my way over.... being new to climbing, I'm full of ideas of how to do things different.... Then someone posts a vid up confirming my suspicions that it might be a winning idea.. great minds at work lads... great minds....
  21. I thought the NFU just did the donkey work and found someone to insure you... I mean, yea, your insured with the NFU, but not really is it?...
  22. Ill thought out idea's?, don't you mean original?...80% whiplash claims in Britain compared to 3%in France.. I'd tar an feather the lot..
  23. Yep, win or lose the claimant pays all costs for whiplash... Such is the level of fraud I think its the only way to put an end to the business... I'd go further, any lawyer taking on a case has to put up his house as collateral.. or taking it to the next level, any solicitor gets six weeks in jail for taking on a case.... In a word, if you get injured, suck on it, thats life, don't expect me to subsidize your injury through my insurance payments....
  24. I'd force every whiplash claim to court, claimant pays all costs win or lose..... I had a right run with my insurance providers at their offices once about this, told em my insurance was skyrocketing because of their lax approach to claims investigations.. mentioned a TV programme about whiplash and Asians and they blew their lids, threatened to throw me out their office and said they can insure anyone they like, or not insure anyone they like.....do you mean me? I said... No answer, but the implication was there, complain and we won't insure you.... Is it any wonder I pay my insurance through gritted teeth..
  25. haha nice one:thumbup1:
