  1. Those who have replied to this post seem to be of a certain vintage, myself included (1964 for me). I agree I look back and can see all those things that have been so eloquently described. I am still of the mindset that if you aint got it you don't spend it, so I do still save and appreciate the effort that goes in to buying the item. When you look at the younger generation I think they have never learned this philosophy and buy now pay as and when is their gambit, hence the spirals of debt and lack of a working ethic in many. As for wages, in real terms |I have not had more than a 1% pay rise in 10 years, so I just have to save harder and wait longer when |I want that extra item, no credit, no mortgage (cant get one) but most importantly no debt. Just my 10 cents worth. S.
  2. Love this thread, its always funny when it is some one else and not yourself involved, in the office an air horn taped to the stem of the chair always works well, as they sit down and the stem compresses the air horn is activated - loudly - tests bladder strength on the ladies........ and some guys!
  3. I have the Thermocafe by Thermos, keeps a litre of black coffee super hot for over 12 hours. Rate it!
  4. Buy a cheap bunch of plastic grapes, remove the fruits and replace onto the stem with turned grapes in purple heart, they look cool, and fairly simple if a little repetitive.
  5. Its gotta be Fleabay, look for someone selling up so you may get chisels gouges and importantly a sharpening system to. the sharpening can be a game breaker leading to disappointment. I had an Axminster 900 for years with a swivel head, great starter lathe and can be cheap second hand. Most importantly is the fun of doing it, not resulting galley pieces. best of luck S.
  6. Norfolk shortcake, purchased fresh from Lathams bakery at Potter Heigham.................. Angel Breath !
  7. Gusseted crotch for ease of movement
  8. I have no knowledge of the business but I do not understand how imported wood, with all the associated costs can be cheaper than home grown?
  9. I use cargo type trouser or combat ex army, seem to be a generous cut and the waist can be adjusted easily if you need a more "volumous" leg so have a baggy waist..... And there are tough.....
  10. Yes me too, very nice oil......

  13. Great for rabbiting and lamping though.
  14. I hit the "wall" at 50, it was like someone threw a switch, up till then I had been fine, plenty of activity and good sleep pattern. Now....... well go to bed wide awake and wake up tired, lethargic and I feel like Ian BEALE looks........
  15. Seems a bit low round this way, going rate £20 plus lunch. What's the rate on your shoot?

Mick, the trees are excellent practice with a skew chisel, no sanding at all if you get it right, lots of firewood if you don't. A great use for small branches of Yew as the coloring is superb.
  18. Depends on the size, if it was a drive way gate I would say very fair.......
