  1. I think there is a support beam under the second, maybe a dowel type setup would work and be in keeping with the design..........
  2. Nice spindle work, I like the pin, neat idea. S.
  3. Makes you wonder if his tragic early departure by a massive heart attack was linked to all the cosmetic alterations he had, 57 far too young.
  4. Excellent stuff, got me some ideas now. Thanks.
  5. Using salt after a shave, bet that stings like Brut used to......
  6. You didn't have to be THAT honest. Lol. Thanks for the generous scores though. Guess I need to practise:thumbup::thumbup:
  7. Whats a "Gypsy cut" ? Sounds like something "they" give out at weddings:confused1:
  8. They are for go not for show. Lol:blushing:
  9. Ok felled my first proper tree today. Up till now it's been stumps and garden sized tree. Not as easy as it appears. About 30 degrees to the right of my target. But it was a safe area where ever it fell so was a good practice. You honest opinions gentlemen?
  10. I to was a "Strawberry blonde" having shaved my head for the past twenty years it was an eye-opener when the beard sprouted, I look more like a silverback gorilla now. Must have missed the salt and pepper stage.
  11. The good lady insisted I trim and use "product" since she moved in, shears are still within reach, just in case.
  12. I got a "Shavette" which has disposable razor blades and requires none of the maintenance of a traditional straight razor, good bit of kit.
  13. Just got my first straight razor due to needing to tidy the winter beard, never used one before so was a bit nervous to say the least. I must say what a good finish much better than a safety razor and not a drop of claret to be seen. Anyone else using one? Also ideal for trimming the beard line, very "lumberjack" now me.
  14. I have a couple of Leylandi logs to mill for a garden bench, however I need some inspiration as to what I can make. Post some pictures please so I can get started. S.
  15. A mate of mine had a problem mouse that would run along the beams of his cottage, various products and methods tried, and failed including sniping with an airgun. In the end he got some heavy duty double sided tape, put that on the beams and caught the thing alive, stuck to the tape. Then dispatched and disposed of, unbelievable but true!
  16. I use a small and very sharp spoke shave on green wood, seems to get a reasonable finish, or try wet sanding with Danish oil or similar as a lube. S.
  17. Have to ask, why only stumps and not other aspects of tree work?
