  1. I think the original looked like a quartered log, that would reduce the splitting me thinks.
  2. Finished pics please?
  3. That's cool........ What's the resin your using and did you get any problems with trapped bubbles, it doesn't look like it. Great idea.
  4. Cool looking...... Are they done like feather sticks / gypsie flowers with a knife?
  5. I get cheap glass inserts from Fleabay to reduce the risk of fire and use a suitable Forster bit to set them in the timber, accurate and a nice flat.bottomed hole. S.
  6. Wish I could get Danish buffed.... Is it like Swedish blown???
  7. Guess I was lucky, apart from putting a couple of o rings on to stop the chain guard rattling a bit. No issues. Must be a Wednesday special!
  8. What faults have you found, so far I have no issues at all for a small mill?
  9. Has anyone any experience of importing or exporting timber around Europe, would be looking to move a small container load at a time. Is anyone offering that kind or service currently?
  10. Yes that's the one 24" max or there abouts easily adjustable from nil to max.
  11. What are you using them for Steve, is it for a specific task, or are you a tool junkie!!
  12. PM me contact details please, and if you want to try turning before you buy let me know your welcome to come and try it.
  13. Hey we are not all tight, I know Steve and myself are more than happy to pay a fair price for good timber. Don't stereotype with your elderly hobby turners!,,,,,,,
  14. Excellent thank you. I have sharpened the chain and the results are much better, the saw is now pulling itself along and the boards are baby bum smooth, guess the factory finish needed a fettle!!
  15. I am in nr12 area but currently in Malta till after the bank holiday it would be of interest. Please pm with idea of cost? S.
  16. I decided to email woodcut direct and got the following by return Our UK distributor is Axminster Tools & Machinery. Whilst we do make a 40mm Toolpost, Axminster don’t normally stock this size but they should be able to get one in from us for you. If you are not already aware, I need to advise you of our new Bowlsaver MAX3 that Axminster are soon to start stocking. It has been designed for power users with large lathes like your VB36. The MAX3 has a new 3rd extra large blade capable of a cut size up to 450mm diameter. The small and medium blades are the same size as the small and large blades of the traditional 2 blade bowlsaver which we still make and sell. The construction of the MAX3 is much stronger and heavier than the 2 blade Bowlsaver with most components cast. If you are interested in a MAX3 with 40mm toolpost we can make sure there is one shipped with Axminsters first MAX3 shipment going some time in September? So looks like it will be this one with the new bigger blade - result.
  17. There is a 40mm tool post listed so I am guessing that, coupled with a 3mt to 2mt reducer should allow the Woodcut to fit?
  18. Seems to be a lot of it about at the moment, sorry not a good introduction to the Forum.
  19. If so which one, and how do you get on with it. They are quite expensive but I can see the advantages and timber saving opportunities as well as the chance to do matching nested bowls. Also what fittings are available, this would be for a VB36. Any suggestions welcome. S.
