  1. Very cool, lots of skill and patience.
  2. I think Shendy was experimenting with this for a kitchen top may be worth asking how his top came out?
  3. Great filter in the workshop also useful for storing odds and ends for a quick snack on the go, trouble is mine is now white so I look like uncle Albert.
  4. Danish for me to, a good drench coat as Steve says then further coats to build up the required finish. Smells good to.
  5. I think we could do with a few more of her type in high office - Tell em like it is!
  6. What great offices you guys have, well in the summer anyways.....
  7. What is a ball park figure for a carving of this nature? S.
  8. Well after all that the seller never replied to my enquiry so guess that says it all........
  9. water based, enamel, oil based, will depend on the type of paint, good old paint stripper may work, wrap them in Clingfilm after applying and leave overnight, I don't think it will affect the slate. Nice sized pieces.
  10. One advertised locally with a 20" bar looks in good condition for around £200. Is it worth the money and would it run a 24" bar for occasional use? Any potential problems to check for? S.
  11. Cool screws have added them to the "must get" list. Thanks:thumbup1:
  12. That's the sort of thing. cheers.
  13. I would like to have a go at some rustic garden furniture utilizing the mill, trouble is I am no good at inspirational ideas, anyone able to post me some pictures that I can plagiarize from...... Also small tables and the like. S.
  14. I have to say the piston looks like its made out of plasticine, funny looking alloy
  15. Rob, do you mean the bar mount? It must be an industry standard as I have the Oregon bar as shown on one of the first pics in this thread. As I am only running a 20" bar I don't think the stress on the mill is too much, but on a bigger saw / bar I think the frame would be well tested. I have just switched to a Granberg ripping chain and the finish is not as good as I was hoping, perhaps its technique but I was getting a very smooth board with the Original Oregon cross cut chain.
  16. 'Another positive for the sub £70 24" mill. Chilling may just catch on....... No more mill snobbery........
  17. I cut the boards to the thickness required, usually about 3" for turning blanks then cut into rounds on the band saw, seal with wax and leave to cook........ I cannot see why a similar approach would not work for flooring blocks. S.
  18. Currently doing it for my own use mainly to prepare turning blanks....... However, it is addictive, so now getting a few planks into my store to dry, not the best time of year to do it due to the summer heat, so I will see how the drying goes. The blanks I produced from my last session are coming along, and at sawmill prices that first day paid for the whole set up.
  19. Yes it was a typo on the first sample sent to me, all good on the batch I ordered though. Well spotted.
