  1. Dismantled a dead redwood today. It was dry as a bone. First proper dead tree I've done so it was a good confidence boost,
  2. Ringing up a big stem. Schoolboy error. Might of known you would torment me for it! 😭
  3. Sugihara bars, pro lite type. Does anyone know if they can be straitened once they have been bent? I guess it depends on whether they are case hardened or through hardened. Any definitive answers would be much appreciated. (Had a slight mid-hap with my 18" one) Thanks
  4. Had all mine (horrible home made jail ones) laser-ed off. So glad they are gone. It hurt worse than having them done in the first place. Well worth it.
  5. One of the best pointers I've ever heard! Can't wait to try it. 👍 .
  6. No you need to use baler twine for that application Bob. Although the baker twine must have a CE mark 😁
  7. As long as the tilt and crowd function can be locked off on the hydraulics it should be fine. A PLANT HIRE do man lifting cages for hire for this very purpose.
  8. We use 10mm ocean polyester home made slings (double fishermans) with DMM revolvers for ziplines. They can also be used to set up mechanical advantage set ups. They work best with 13mm host rope as the revolver gates don't open very wide.
  9. Thank you Richy. You worked really hard and we did really well to get it done especially in the pouring rain. Thanks mate 👍👍

I've considered getting a newer "posh" 3.5t tipper but I've come to the conclusion that a 3.5t will be almost constantly overweight doing any kind of arbwork. I'm just going to stick to older models as they get hammered too much. We've had a good strong chipbox made recently and I'm thinking it will be best just to swap the box over when the tipper expires. If we can get two years out of a cheap tipper then I'll be happy This will reduce our exposure to the big outlay required to finance a newer model tipper. I'm really not keen on spending big bucks on a truck that will never really be fit for purpose. Having said that, the Japanese stuff does look more capable than the UK stuff and has the bigger engines.
  11. Mad Max film sets have nothing on your yard, Bob. You have some ace kit mate 👍
  12. If you can't scribe it on the gate due to the knurling it is permissible to etch it on the spine of the Krab. Just remember that you mustn't remove any more than 10% of the material. (It is very unlikely that you will do that just by lightly engraving numbers on the spine)
  13. For me I'd say that any situation where I'm likely to knock the top of the device it's safer to use the HC. Congested conny bashing being one example.
  14. Sounds vaguely familiar.......
  15. You'll love it. Very similar characteristics. I went from Blakes to Prussic to HC to zigzag. Did think of going to a spiderjack but didn't fancy having the on/off lever in a work situation.
  16. I feel your pain..,, I'm scared of heights myself. 😱
  17. You could always catch a "backy" with someone on Mad Sunday....

You can't pack what you don't have Rich!
  19. I remember when Steve Hislop broke the 120mph barrier. To think the bikes are that much quicker again is mind blowing.
  20. Nice one Mr Egg. You reap what you sow. 👍👍
  21. Great selection of mogs. 👍 Came across this today. My Mrs rolled her eyes.
  22. Marlow venom 11:8mm on zigzag.. Now I've got used to its bounce I'm liking it. Couldn't stand it at first.
  23. We run all our machinery on this. There is a noticeable difference in how clean and how well everything runs on it. I know it seems pricey but I recon it's paid for itself by the savings made on downtime and repairs. Having suffered problems through guys mis-fuelling or using cheap oil and stale fuel in saws in the past, it has removed a lot of potential hassle for us. 👍👍
  24. A Zillon replacement strop comes with one eye on it and one plain end. Once you have threaded it onto the Zillon you are meant to tie a figure 8 stopper at the plain end and heat shrink a small plastic tube over the knot to seal it in place.
  25. Nice vid Paul. Going to go and visit it soon.
