  1. Surely I do....
  2. Nice, but did it get a CE mark?
  3. You can limp home if you have a puncture with a single...... Obviously
  4. Tracked chipper would be the ideal but don't have that kind of money at the moment. I was thinking of getting a used GM 1928 then as things build then possibly get a tracked machine. Would have to do more licences to drive a 12 ton. Perhaps this is the way forward. Thanks for your replies
  5. That's what we try and do. Our subby is also an NPTC trainer so he is really good at passing his skills on. Obviously old fashioned apprenticeships are the ideal for someone to progress from rookie climber to seasoned pro. I doubt there are that many around anymore.
  6. I thought one of the main reasons for bringing a subby in is to help on jobs that are assessed to be beyond the skill level/experience of the day to day crew. That way the crew can gain the experience in these kinds of jobs safely.
  7. I'm looking at selling our mog / pto chipper and getting a bigger truck and chipper which is more road friendly. Possibly a 7.5 or a 6.5 (to tow a bigger chipper as I'm only allowed up to 8250kg mam) We also have a 3.5 transit and 150 timber wolf and a little Berlinger van. (Thinking of swapping the Berlingo for a L200/ranger tipper) I wanted to hear from those who run multi vehicle firms and what your experiences are with different types of vehicle combos. We do mainly domestic work but do quite a few large removals and small site clearances so we need to be flexible. It would be great to hear which kind of combos have worked well. Thanks in advance
  8. Out on quotes today and there are firms (reputable ones) working for absolute peanuts. We can't and don't want to compete with these sort of prices. This has to be a factor in shortcuts being taken. Thankfully we're not short of work. No wonder this sort of thing is happening.
  9. Pure Monty Python by the sounds of it
  10. 10" on the 150 and 14" or 12"on the 540 depending on the job.
  11. Biffa in Etwall just off the A38 have a big composting facility. They take all green waste.
  12. The Japanese trucks look like they carry it better though, same chassis as the 7.5t trucks I believe? Bigger and better engines too. Very nice truck

The problem with customising kit is that items such as harnesses etc are given a CE mark as a complete unit or system. If you change a component you are technically removing the CE mark. If that item then fails your insurance cover could be invalidated on those grounds. I've had the same issue with changing the rope on my zillon. Petzl told me I shouldn't do it because the system gained its CE mark as a complete unit. Hope this is helpful (from a Loler point of view anyway)
  14. This Network is a particular favourite of mine.
  15. Just to set the record straight. Muslim martyr..... Someone who kills other people (along with himself ) for his faith. Christian martyr.... Someone who gets killed by other people because of his faith.
  16. Get a tapered head shovel underneath it and scrape away at it is best. Comes off a treat.
  17. Drove home tonight and found these on one of our oaks.
  18. Levers in a working situation are too easy to knock. I know ART have taken this into account with the SJ3 and shrouded the lever and added the locking function. It will be interesting to see what people think. I will wait and see before I spend quarter of a grand on a friction device.
  19. I managed to get some specially prepared absorbent spillage compound. Apparently ash chip is the best thing for this kind of spillage. 😘
  20. Just managed to get it back to the yard.... If you can't fix it with a couple of ratchet straps it really is broken
  21. Hydraulic ram on the mog 3pt linkage gave way.... Job was going great until now 😩👎
  22. Nice work and video Reg. Impressive for a "quick" afternoons work.
  23. 150, 540, 346, 560, 441, 576 and a 330 Natanoko. (Got a gypsy stick somewhere as well but never use it)
  24. Shockingly awful in the Midlands. More like March than the end of June. Even the coldest city on earth is hotter than here.
  25. Wasn't that photo in MaxPower the other week? !
