  1. Ps sorry to hear about this Eggs. I've been through it. It's not nice.
  2. I don't think collies make good house pets especially with kids. I've known a number of them turn. They're known to be highly strung and like most working breeds, if they aren't doing what they were bred to I.e working. Then they are susceptible to behaviour problems. I know not everyone will agree with me but it's what I've experienced over the years. If I was looking for a dog to have as a pet with kids a collie wouldn't even make the list as a possibility.
  3. Welcome! Mine sat on the shelf for months before I used it. If only I had known how easy it is to rescue damaged chains. I still prefer the little roller guides for Husky and Oregon chains with a hand file, but for damaged chains the little flora best grinder is unbeatable value.
  4. There is a metal guide/flap that pushes up behind the cutter body on the chain, this can be adjusted by the screw behind it. If you look for the most damaged/blunt link on the chain and use that to set the amount you want to grind off. This will ensure that each link ends up the same size after grinding. (When I said depth of cut I didn't mean just pushing down into the chain I meant the amount of material to be taken from the cutting edge of each link.) I hope this makes sense
  5. Great vid Mark. The rope running was pure class.
  6. Saturday for us lot..
  7. Yes that's right. Set the guides to the desired depth and angle of cut and pull the chain through from left to right. It's really easy once you suss it.
  8. We've got one of these and they are great for chains that have struck metal etc.... For the best results I brush water and oil on the grinding wheel while sharpening and it stops the chain hardening with the heat.
  9. Shakespeare.... Duh.....ov course
  10. Look forward to seeing you. All of our lot will be there on the Saturday.
  11. Hi Paul, We're up at Lincoln Showground this week under canvas. Still can't resist a few mod cons tho. Hope you're well. Are you at the APF this year? TImon
  12. Now that is truly horrific. On every level.
  13. Perhaps I was a bit harsh there..,
  14. Ill remember where I heard it first...🙂
  15. There really isn't much to choose from really..... A egotistical raving madman or a liberal shapeshifter with the morals of a Mississippi steamboat gambler. Some choice.
  16. It's not just politics that is broken.... The whole world is broken. We just happen to live in one of the more "sheltered" parts of the brokenness.
  17. That's right. An Arbaid kit is getting closer to the top of the wish list. At the moment we have the Israeli bandages and celox etc.. We've all recently done a first aid course. I think the guy that sells them insists on you doing his course before he will sell one to you. I may be wrong about that though.
  18. It's all starting to make sense now! 🙂🙂🙂
  19. Hence the price of the kits.....
  20. Do you go on mumsnet as well, Mick?
  21. Excellent post.
  22. I book easier smaller jobs on a saturday for the lads to do . I can manage about 17 quotes if I set out early enough and plan the route well. That way I can squeeze the odd ones in during the week. That's covering a big city (Bham). Planning the jobs that I can leave guys on while I nip and do the quotes is helpful. So far I haven't had to do many in the evenings.
  23. It can be a bit like that over here. There was a case recently where a guy was floating face down in a lake. The chief fire officer first on the scene wouldn't let anyone wade in and try and rescue/resuscitate him. The risk assessment deemed it too dangerous. Eventually a copper insisted on going in, the casualty was pronounced dead at the scene. I think the copper faced disciplinary action. The box tick, litigation mentality, nanny state strikes again.
  24. Back to the original topic. I'm about a stone and a half overweight at 14.6st and at 51 no spring chicken. I manage most things in treework ok. I'm certainly not what you would call a super fit athlete. When it comes to first aid, some of the skanky areas in Birmingham that we work in, a tetanus jab and a stab vest would be the order of the day 🙂
