  1. To get us back on track, the rock machinery grinder has a good reputation, however if you can justify the cost go for one with a turntable your body will thank you: Predator 360 - Pedestrian | predator WWW.PREDATOR-MFG.COM The perfect entry level tree stump grinder. With a central pivot, the Predator 360 makes a tough job quick and easy. Remove tree stumps between 2 - 3 times faster than a generic... The other option on a budget is this:
  2. Could you enlighten us as to what experience and qualifications a window cleaner has regarding stump removal? That way we will know that we are learning from the best rather than listening to a bag of wind. 🤔
  3. I’m the same, evan a quick glance through the kitchen window can tell you to stick to the flask 🤢
  4. Well done Paul, it takes some doing to achieve what you did, any just as much to write about it 👏
  5. @AHPP sorry if I reacted to your “rant” a bit to much earlier.
  6. If your 250mm above your anchor point it would be a 500mm fall, just saying like. the answer is it won’t kill you, may bruise the odd bit but nowt to panic about 🤔
  7. @AHPP I think that was a bit offside, it’s a sensible question, evan more so if the op hasn’t got that much experience. the wrist thickness is tried and tested on the vast majority of trees, experience will teach when to go smaller or not push your luck
  8. Graft point? I would of said it was to high to be a tree guard but is a very defined line
  9. Thinking back to my early grinding experiences with a cheap Chinese grinder I reckon your right the predator chainsaw grinder is a step up. 👍
  10. Evans buildings in Carmarthen also do a nationwide service.
  11. I remember that flat twin and earth cable, we used to have it on a grain auger that plugged in to that strange screw in socket that turned on by twisting a brass knob. Bloody thing confused me at 5 or 6 year old. How times have changed since the late 80s I’m not sure it’s all for the better 🤔 Kids aren’t allowed to do owt these days 😢 I’m sure that’s part of the reason they don’t grow up with any motivation.
  12. That was the black plugs you had to screw the ring on after pushing the pins in wasn’t it? Remember being confused by one as a kid.
  13. Nice shape to that👍 I find once a tree gets over 70-80ft it gets harder to think in 3D to get each side to match up shape wise.
  14. I thought the same but decided it wasn’t as the trees are at the same angle.
  15. Pass it around the stem and then through its self, pull on the end you passed through - the harder you pull he tighter it will get. A slip knot i guess, I have always known it a choking it off.
  16. Don’t fell the tree it’s hung in is he important bit! if you choke a sling around the trunk just above the cut(you haven't made yet) to winch from and other end on a sturdy tree. A felling bar with a cant hook on can help to roll it.
  17. Opposite the needles as in newforest area on the north island or Freshwater? ive not grown up yet so I can’t say we’re I grew up!
  18. Can’t help with work but the kettle will be hot 👍 it’s a great place, we evan have our own time zone, it’s about 5 min behind England 🤣
  19. Sorry to disappoint eggs but No, we stay small as we value our freedom and work life balance, occasionally we do have a subby in to help. (We don’t need the subby/freelancer insurance needed/not needed debate here we all know I mean a self employed person who works for a number of different teams as needed 🤔😂)
  20. That’s a bugger Sam. My Good lady also has some stick from the blokes in the industry and out of it, there is no need for it, you lasses are just as able. You will find a pace to slot it. If anything comes up this way we will be in touch (we couldn’t give a monkeys if your male, female, umpalumpa, minion or unidentifiable 😂) but we do tend to stay self contained with just the 2 of us most days.
  21. I laughed just because it wasn’t me (this time) it’s always when you need to get away on time and the reclimb is a bugger as you have removed the easy to reach branches 🤦‍♂️
  22. We had a sine wave one in our old truck for the exact reason. Would charge one ap300 batterie no bother but try 2 and the truck wouldn’t start. Mainly used it with truck running.
  23. A small grinder will do a large stump but it takes longer and is harder work. If you can afford to get the 460 with the turn table, far easier on your body. All the predator kit is well built with very good back up. On the down side If you will be looking at a lot of narrow access the 460 can be a inch or 2 to wide for some gates but 2 people can tip it up and through. You will never say I wish I had less hp on a grinder.
  24. Do you use the same tools as turning with a powered lathe or is it a completely different tool kit as well as skill set? Ive tried turning on a powered lathe but only managed a few funky shaped bits of firewood 😂
