@Paddy1000111 for reference a silky saw will cut a tensioned rope as quick as a chain saw and quicker than a rescue knife. Not saying don’t carry one but I would go to the silky first for a loaded climbing or rigging line first every time.

We just use what ever is in the cardboard bin And kindling is just the small stuff that drops out of the processor and any off cuts of what ever I’ve made. Spending money on firefighters 🤯

Rock ropes are far more stretchy than arb ropes, ours are more static.

If your 250mm above your anchor point it would be a 500mm fall, just saying like. the answer is it won’t kill you, may bruise the odd bit but nowt to panic about 🤔

@AHPP I think that was a bit offside, it’s a sensible question, evan more so if the op hasn’t got that much experience. the wrist thickness is tried and tested on the vast majority of trees, experience will teach when to go smaller or not push your luck

Thinking back to my early grinding experiences with a cheap Chinese grinder I reckon your right the predator chainsaw grinder is a step up. 👍

I remember that flat twin and earth cable, we used to have it on a grain auger that plugged in to that strange screw in socket that turned on by twisting a brass knob. Bloody thing confused me at 5 or 6 year old. How times have changed since the late 80s I’m not sure it’s all for the better 🤔 Kids aren’t allowed to do owt these days 😢 I’m sure that’s part of the reason they don’t grow up with any motivation.

That was the black plugs you had to screw the ring on after pushing the pins in wasn’t it? Remember being confused by one as a kid.

Nice shape to that👍 I find once a tree gets over 70-80ft it gets harder to think in 3D to get each side to match up shape wise.

I thought the same but decided it wasn’t as the trees are at the same angle.

Pass it around the stem and then through its self, pull on the end you passed through - the harder you pull he tighter it will get. A slip knot i guess, I have always known it a choking it off. -

Don’t fell the tree it’s hung in is he important bit! if you choke a sling around the trunk just above the cut(you haven't made yet) to winch from and other end on a sturdy tree. A felling bar with a cant hook on can help to roll it. -
Opposite the needles as in newforest area on the north island or Freshwater? ive not grown up yet so I can’t say we’re I grew up!
