  1. Have a look at the Predetor chainsaw grinders. I’ve had a couple of 2 ft plus stumps out with a 661 based one. I reckon they are just as quick as a little bouncy grinder and far more portable
  2. Alder is said to be good for charcoal and gun powder
  3. You will also need to get a waste carriers licence. A lower tier should be ok, but check first as everyone’s set up is different. They used to be free for lower tier and just a paper work exercise but I’m not sure if that still the case. our local landfill also runs a composting set up, £x per ton over the weigh bridge most areas have something similar
  4. Cheviot trees in Scotland deliver nation wide. There cell grown stuff is very good, a little more expensive than bare root but with the tube planter it’s bloody quick to plant hedges compared to bare root so you gain more on labour cost than you spend on plants.
  5. Sorry someone had to do it

    Old Axe

I’ve done some in the past with starter cord, kite string or paracord whipping, quite simple to do. I’ve not red the full site but the pics will show you how How To Wrap A Tomahawk Or Axe Handle With Paracord - BushEcho WWW.BUSHECHO.COM How To Wrap A Tomahawk Or Axe Handle With Paracord. - While there are plenty of other ways to wrap the handle, this way is simple and doesn’t take much time.
  7. I must say I’ve noticed it get progressively worse over the last few weeks. Equally we have noticed customers and society in general going the same way. The current situation seems to have given many folk a green light to forget common decency 🤯😢 I had hoped that during these strange and challenging times that folk would have pulled together and been a little more excepting of different views and ways but it seems to have done the opposite.
  8. A bolt may help if you can’t find a pin.
  9. I’m lost for words on this. To have a fall/tree collapse is a risk most of us except as a possibility one day. To have the barstard drown you as well is not in the job description 😢 Our thoughts are with the family. RIP.
  10. Your not selling it 🤣
  11. It makes good fire wood but looks quite plain as a split log, I would be interested to see what it comes out like 👍
  12. These little narrow access things, not massive but a big step up/help compared to pie power
  13. How much stock fencing have you done?
  14. Your rope takes care of that, seen big lads do tip ends no bother and as many skinny racing snakes that can’t, that’s down to ability and practice. Cs38 will get you more work as a groundy/rescue climber. A good crew will give you some tree time with 38 but 39 is the big step forward, after that get some experience first, rigging and pruning will be easier then 👍
  15. Seen plenty reckon that a free turning one is better for stuffing brash in a chipper, used with a heal will still move logs. (A fixed grab for logs is also a option) Also reducing weight so can lift more and hopefully it wouldn’t be so long so get better lift height I am open to ideas as that’s all it is at the moment
  16. Thank you. I will give them a try, just got fed up of not finding what I was after
  17. I’m looking into timber grabs to put on a small loader, nothing remarkable in that but I cannot find knockabout grab rotators only hydraulic ones for sale. Can any of you please help with what to search for to find a free turning rotator, I’ve tried looking up every term I can think of on google but to no avail 🤔 I think @Mick Dempsey has mentioned the grab on his multi one is a knock about.
  18. It is, I’ve not got a new petrol one but it could change the market value for second hand diesel machines and ruin the investment for people that have just gone petrol. This could also include many stump grinders etc. New machines will be sorted to except it in short order or they won’t sell, it makes for Interesting times but the powers above won’t care about us, they want everyone to go electric which is currently (IMO) unviable for us as a industry 🤔
  19. Does this mean all these new petrol chippers will be no good on regular fuel?
  20. My last one lasted 3 years before any creep showed. I do tend to climb fairly hard and used it with a rope wrench on srt as well. I must confess I’m not so keen on the new one, it’s to bulky and doesn’t fit the hand so nicely
  21. We have been having similar conversations 👍 all we ever hear is good things about customer service from greenmech. tidy job, well done to all involved at greenmech 😎
  22. Let it grow taller this year and have it laid next winter, You will get far better regrowth from the base, more wildlife in it and if done well will be stock proof evan if your only livestock is a dog or child 👍 leave a occasional tree in a laid hedge for the birds to sing from. A hedge with a song post every 20metre will get more small birds nesting than one without.
  23. Half of the carving would be in next door, what happens if she wants a rhino and he wants a horse, they would end up with a unicorn!
  24. You will. Need to apply to the council tree officer for any works of this nature. Not a issue, you can do it your self or most reputable tree surgeons will do the paperwork on your behalf.
  25. Try Arborventure tree care, based in the new forest and one of the good guys of the arb world. There will be others locally but I know these guys have the kit to deal with your tree: https://www.arborventuretreecare.co.uk I can’t speak for there costs but there work is first class 👍
