  1. Pontrilas are bound to have something, and there up Hereford way.
  2. Its because they know you seasoned stuff isn't going weigh a ton, losing out on valuable weight
  3. Scots pine, its a good burner too.
  4. Best thing about ordering pizza and chinese is eating it cold the next day haha
  5. Some nice colour there, what is it going to be used for? Had a wind blow field maple that needed clearing last year, had big iron bars in it which caused it fail, had lovely colours in it but had major rot so on the firewood pile it went. Shame really.
  6. Email the guys at Riko and ask for the price lists for the splitters. They will send you a document with all the different machines prices and options. Warning, you will end up with no money as you will want to buy everything in the catalogue
  7. So far so good with the A11. Having the option of a 4 way blade make splitting soo much quicker on the smaller stuff. As for speed Ive not timed it but I cant remember waiting for the ram to return to re-split a log. Its a great machine, only had it a 6 months and by the end of the winter I will have easily made my money back on it.
  8. What causes the rippling in the wood?
  9. I doubt it will if you want to make any money. Not had experience with 12 way blade and splitter but even with small knotty logs the end product looks pretty crap with shards of wood and splinters poking out everywhere. Unless its for our own use.
  10. Not had that one but had a 800 series and a 600 series, 800 died water damage but was a very good phone. Replaced with the 600 series, not as good as the 800 but did the job. Just ordered a 1000 series with the big ass camera. All in all good phone (and I've dropped mine quiet a few times and had no damage to the screen).
  11. Ive read a coppice can produce 3.6cbm per acre per year. Not sure whether that helps mind.
  12. If going higher try putting a layer of pallets down in between the wood somewhere, might help season it better. But I like that idea, let us know next year how you got on
  13. Might be able to hire myself and the splitter (Riko A11) out depending on the quantity of wood to split. PM me if you want.
  14. You should hire your dog out as a chipper, my dogs are brilliant at it Burning mouldy Sycamore and any bits of wood that I shouldn't sell. Next on my pile is partly rotten Scots pine.
  15. I use old fence taken from fencing jobs, tie them together and cover with a pallet with plastic nailed to the top. This year I have only gone one fence high and had good results. Any wet logs around the outside get chuck in a shed and dry within a week. This year I am trying 2 fences high, but already I am seeing the outside logs getting drenched in the sideways rain. But will find whether it work well next year.
  16. An Arbtalk retreat that makes money :001_tongue:Count me in
  17. That would be handy Surely you could cut all the netting away with a knife? When I looked into them they seemed like a good idea.
  18. For last few years now the jet stream doesn't seem to move for months at a time, like this summer when we had such good weather for months and like last winter where we were battered by rain. I think the jet stream has moved in for a wet autumn but will shift again come December time giving long periods of dry cold weather. That's what I am hoping for anyway.
  19. Very true......... Spend it all in your last years by living it up Or sort it out properly which would be boring
  20. Even after you've made your bit of money and saved up, got a nice house and car, they then take half of that in inheritance tax when your gone
  21. And what would that achieve? Most people pay VAT and other taxes, just suck it up like the rest of us!
  22. Great Ill will let them know what it is and recommend to get someone to have a better look at it and go from there. Thanks again
  23. Thank you for that David I dont think I can download the app on my windows phone. But should have really looked on the Fungi ID on here first before posting What would be the recommendation for this tree then? Its right next to the customers house and has a lean towards the house. Do trees with Shaggy Scalycap tend to fail soon after the fungi is visible or is there no telling?
  24. Ive been using the mower for long (and wet) grass today and it was perfect. With the adjustable speed you can slow it right down to stop it from blocking up with grass. Works a treat.
